If you main Yi, then you are awful at this game. Idc what rank or tier you are, what your kda is, what your win/lose ratio is, and I don't give a crap about cowsep, if you main Master Yi then you are horrendous at this game, the end.

Yi is a champion, and some people play him to enjoy him. On top of that, if he has a good kit and is above the average power threshold, I'd argue that Yi mains or dedicated Yi players are also picking a champion that can help their team more than some other picks.

I know I have champions I despise for their ease of use and skill caps, mainly Fizz, but I'm considering playing him myself, because it's easy to turn him into a bastion for your team. I know you just wanted to rant, and I won't hold it against you, but League is two things--a game, first, and a team game second. And people playing what they enjoy who help their team in doing so are the benchmark for all players to strive to, technically speaking.

Vicarious1171 votes

Most Yi's do not pick for their team though, they almost exclusively believe that no matter what the comp is if they can farm until late game they can right click on everyone and kill them all, and a lot of them time they can, "cause Yi."

I agree on Fizz though, he's kind of a joke atm.

Why only matters in a court of law. If the Yi wants to dominate his lane/jungle, and he does, and it helps his team, then he's been useful, regardless of how much of a prick he acts.

Lol crying about Master Yi. Give me a break.

Unlike many other champions in the game, there are parts of his kit that ACTUALLY separate the good Yi's from the great Yi's.

Vicarious1171 votes

Right clicking repeatedly does not offer much room for differentiation, sorry but it makes no difference how long you've played Yi, it's always the same.

Everyone hates on Yi for being "Master Right Click", but right clicking is what every single marksman does, and other melee carries such as Tryn and Fiora. Yi actually has quite a few abilities to use, even more than other right click champs. When Yi enters a fight he has to Ghost, Ult, Smite, Q, E, Youmuu's, BotRK, Q again, and W when needed. Rengar is even easier because you just ult + Youmuu's, jump to target and nuke.

Vicarious1171 votes

Tryn and Fiora are just as easy, Fiora even more so. But claiming that simply activating everything at once then right clicking someone afterwards is like saying Xin Zhao takes a ton of skill to play.... oh and of course apparently having a free invulnerability and gap closer with the Q makes him harder! Spoiler, it makes him easier.

And if you seriously think Rengar is easier then those champs then your opinion on anything champ related is worthless.

That's just your opinion, but you have -4 votes for a reason. Keep calling Yi mains bad if that makes you feel better.

Otherwise known as "Your opinion is worthless because it's different than mine!"

Yeah. That is not how you make a discussion, dude.

Vicarious1171 votes

No, once you start spouting something that is obviously wrong, then you appear to have no idea what you're talking about, thus your opinion is made worthless through your own general lack of knowledge.

So you're right, that's not how you have a discussion, but it's not my fault he lacks the basic knowledge to actually have a true discussion.

IcyPepper1 votes

So you're right, that's not how you have a discussion,

So you say I'm wrong, and then I'm right in a roundabout way to twist my words to support your claim...? Going from "No..." to "So you're right..." doesn't make any sense.

And you're completely wrong. Everyone is entitled to craft opinions from personal experience, data, and observation. People might come to different conclusions. If you're going to say someone is completely wrong and that their opinion on anything related to X is worthless because of one opinion they have (this case being Rengar is easy), how are you going to feel if someone turns that around on you?

You said Yi takes no skill effectively at all, but that's where you're wrong. Every champion can be easy or difficult to pick up, but it takes skill in order to play the game at higher tiers of play. Master Yi falls off mid-elo because he is easy to play, but players need a higher level of mastery to play against people who know how to handle him (which is almost everyone post-30, considering how there's a Master Yi every game pre-30... or at least that was my experience). He's easy to play, but hard to master like almost every champion. Or at least that's my opinion.

How would you feel if I said your opinion was worthless because you didn't consider champion mastery? Every response you give to me, I now have license to ignore and go "lalala you're wrong" if I went by your logic.

Learn how to respect others for sharing different opinions, and realize that you may not always be 100% right. Also:

If you main Yi, then you are awful at this game.

Logical fallacy, generalization. That is one flaw in your OP, and by your logic that means the rest is meaningless.

Vicarious1171 votes

No, it's a fact some champs are easier to play then others, and saying a champ that is without a doubt no matter your experience harder to play then another is actually easier to play then a champ that literally takes an extremely minuscule amount of skill to play well through any number of reasons is wrong.

So no, I do not have to "respect" the opinions of someone on a gaming forum if they're obviously wrong due to a general lack of understanding and/or knowledge on the subject. In these cases they need to be quiet and learn from those who do know.

"SNOW IS GREEN!" "Yes boy, I respect that opinion of yours and will consider what you have said and maybe me thinking that it's white is actually wrong, thank you!"

NO! If it's wrong it's wrong, opinions do not matter in these cases.

Also, no, that statement is in fact true.

So get off your high horse and take a look around, this is a gaming forum, no one gives a sh*t if you act all mature. If you're wrong you're still wrong.

Did I not just say that some champions are easier to play.

Every champion can be easy or difficult to pick up, but it takes skill in order to play the game at higher tiers of play.

Oh yes I did. But at higher tiers of play, things stop being simple. Some champions are easy to pick up, hard to master. A Diamond 1 Master Yi can't get away with the same antics a Bronze V Master Yi could.

It's quite clear that you need to take your own advice and learn how to hold a credible, respectful discussion.

NO! If it's wrong it's wrong, opinions do not matter in these cases.

You're not 100% right in every case, and not everything is white and black.

You should really start taking your own advice.

Vicarious1171 votes

No where have I tried to act all high and educated like you are attempting to do right now, so no, my own advice doesn't apply.

And no, it's always simple, this game is overall extremely simple, even the "hard to play" champs aren't really all that difficult, they're just harder then the brain dead easy ones like Yi.

I keep hearing this desperate argument used.

its like this. Everyone is in a bicycle race. You however show up in a car. You win the race then state "but I'm a great car driver! I'm one of the good ones! I practiced shifting, and and drafting, and turning techniques so I deserved the win". But still the thing is, it was a bike race, you had a car.

You lose to a Master Yi and then post a thread about Master Yi mains being horrendous? Relax and take a break from League.

Vicarious1171 votes

No, I fcked a Master Yi up for the entirety of a game but the rest of his team carried him till the late game then he essentially one shot everything and their moms by right clicking on them over and over again, then kept bragging in all chat about his "sick skills" like some 12 year old brat.

Am I angry? Yeah, and I am taking a break, hence why I'm on the forums, duh. Doesn't change the facts that I originally posted.

Everyone has bad games, and Rengar destroys Yi. Also, "duh" is used to denote something obvious. You taking a break isn't obvious by you posting on the boards because you can easily post on the boards while in queue, champ select, or loading screen. You also stated no facts. You stated that Yi mains are horrendous at League and that's not even a fact. Relax.

Yes, watch a game with a Yi main, any game at any rank, and pay close attention to what it is they must do in a fight. Anyone who MAINS that is bad, the end.

Yi is an assassin, he waits for the right moment to run in and assassinate squishies and clean up fights, just like any other assassin.

Apparently you are BUTTHURT from losing many games to master yi. So maybe he isn't a bad champion to main afterall.

Cry more, all i know is that yi has big success in low elos because useless scrubs like you don't know how to counter him.

If one champion works at your elo and gives you wins easy i don't see a reason why not to main them.

Garen is easy too, so what, i win games with him so i main him. Its as simple as it gets

The Wet Baguette3 votes

So... Yi's Alpha Strike is probably one one of the hugest skullcap abilities in the game. Knowing how and when to use it requires experience and practice.

I'd hardly call the Diamond Yis who dodge Malphite ults bad.

Though I do agree that he scales really hard even when he feeds

FebruAhri3 votes

my only problem with yi is the 70% damage reduction on his W. I don't think an assassin should get that much tankiness (fyi alistar's ult also reduces 70% damage, and it's on his ult as a tank)

depends on your mechanics, build and timing.

Kouga1 votes

Ali can just activate his and then continue to move around and use abilities. Yi's is on a long channel, so he can just be interrupted out of it. I agree that 70% seems a little excessive but considering its drawbacks I'm not that opposed to it. Plus, most melee ADCs have some kind of mitigation - Riven & Yasuo's Shield mechanics for instance - where Yi doesn't actually get innate defenses outside of that resistance and Alpha-dodging with his Q.

Yi can get scary, but only if you feed him. I had this one jungler that just stole all his creeps. He tried to gank after that but it was so pathetic that I just got a double kill instead of getting wrecked. Say what you want about champions that can't get gold or xp, but Yi is feast or famine. If he can't get his kills, he's worthless. He can't contest dragon. He can't gank lanes. Usually, a Yi's first gank is the deciding factor in if he's going to be relevant throughout the game. If he's successful, you might have a problem. If it's a flop then I can almost guarantee that he will have zero impact on the rest of the game.

BluePolarizer1 votes

depends. See this game:

got killed by Fiora before I finished blue, still snowballed to become a monster. This is high gold/low plat btw.

its all about mechanics, positioning and strategy.

DeloricVI1 votes

Yes, if you play him correctly, he can come back, but if you take the correct measures against him, he can become largely irrelevant. In the end, it depends on the players, not the champions. My main point with saying this is to make it apparent that skill plays a large role in how successful Yi is. I jungle Sion, which many people would say is a bit more difficult that Yi because of Yi's reputation (not that any people that complain about him have actually played him). I'm terrible at master Yi, and I've seen what happens when he falls off... many players can't deal with what I mentioned, and become so insignificant, that his biggest use would be warding while the team actually does something.

Budmeizter1 votes

The truth is Yi is the most hated character in the game, even more then teemo. But Riot will never nerf him because his being a crutch char is why people love him. All the anime weaboos who want a super Naruto ninja to right click and win a game with pay for skin after skin after skin.
