Some thoughts on my favorite Darius champion

There are few things that really pissing me off about Darius game design.

  1. His weaknesses being way too obvious and easy to abuse by enemies. Yes I know you're gonna say this is part of his nature but... but! When he tries to get close to enemy team they kite and poke. This is okay. I mean they're supposed to do that. But is this freaking fair to do it so easy? Just look at the tierlist and we won't find any "easy counterplay" champ here. Let me count current fotm toplaners: Quinn Fiora Pantheon Jayce. If you want try to explain to me how exactly their toolkits are easy to deny so hard as Darius's one? This moment isn't the worst thing I hate about Darius rework but w/e just had to say it.

  2. When you reach the moment of true strength there is still easy to avoid and abuse his mobility and low range issue. Kinda similiar to the first point. Just asking what is the point to suffer so hard to get this thing when you gonna suffer the same way (if not more) after you hit it?

  3. When you can't hit ur passive you can't do anything useful for your team. This is the biggest concept disaster of his rework. Yeah he has no inner durability to be legit frontliner. He has no reliable CC ability to help team or engage to them. For example FioraJax may splitpush really good when they're not able to perform their main mechanics (Simply beating people to the death with true dmg/insane aa dmg) Jayce has even more options when he can't perform his main ro... Who am I kidding? He's always allowed to poke people with E + Q combo without taking any risk. He may also splitpush turrets.

  4. When you actually become super Darius with Noxian Might this.... this is actually not that rewarding as we might think! As I said earlier. He just literally does nothing! Waiting his team to engage and set some opportunity to him. I feel like an adc but even worse because my moment of carry isn't stable at all. Say what you want but in 95% scenario you're gonna have like 20-30% HP if you hit passive in teamfight. Not to mention they still can easily avoid you. But I'm even more concerned about his unreliable combat mode. They actually kill you very quickly even before you can charge this dumb Q properly. Ding-ding! No inner durability issue!

P.S I can already see people saying (downvoting too) how bad am I and that I need to hit Q properly to stay alive! Seriously Im an expirienced Darius player myself I know how to hit freaking Q but this isnt enough. It's okay for me to smash some Q but listen. When enemy adc (Twitch Zyra for example) and his support simply kill you in 2-3 seconds when you already have passive and when you actually have opportunity to dunk them... You know Darius has like 3-5 seconds cd on his Q not to mention these amazing items on enemy team item 3165item 3033 : D Yeah getting killed in 2-3 seconds is kinda classic even for 4k hp 270 armor 200 resists guy. Im actually okay with kiting but I feel angry when you're not getting any reward for achieving some conditions.

P.S.S Seriousy be honest with me. What Darius can do that other toplane champion cannot perform in terms of strategy? For me he has nothing compared to meta lcs toplaners.

Honestly Darius is plenty strong, I don't think he deserved his most recent nerfs, but not to get off topic. He is plenty strong but the other "meta" top laners are BROKEN, so why pick "strong" when you could pick "TOO STRONG"

I don't actually think there is anything wrong with darius right now, I just think that other toplaners like Jayce are sitting too high in general. If they were toned down I think darius would be more popular

This is what I'm saying. Why would anyone want to play Darius when they're able to pick someone more useful and reliable. Seriously this game is just became completely clown fiesta. I remembed old Darius being decent early-midgame powerhouse without any counter play. Yeah that was toxic but at least I had some fun with him. But they just put him in restricted meta -_-

The thing with juggernaut is that they are weak to range, kiting and poke, but their sheer power is ridiculous. They heal so much, while doing the most damage on their team in AOE that they outmatch their oponents... If they can catch them. Darius in particullar is THE melee lane bully, tell me a single melee champion that can beat him in his early game. And by melee I mean REAL melee, not gangplank.

Heal too much? My dear current dmg dealing sources just shut down them before they start healing

About melee? For example Riven Fiora Kled Trundle

I think Darius is one of those champions that gets worse as the elo gets higher due to the fact that players in higher elos know how to counter you. Darius requires little mechanical knowledge because he has a simple and relatively straightforward kit. The problem with that is if you play against champions whom require high mechanical knowledge to play well they have more opportunities to outplay you in a straight out fight. Mechanically difficult champions also tend to be strong or overpowered when played correctly because it's believed to be a reward for learning a difficult champion.

For example a Darius with 15 games vs. a Fiora with 15 games the Darius is more likely to win fue to the fact that he doesn't have to worry about at,much in a fight.

However if a Darius mastered his mechanics fought against a Fiora who mastered her mechanics Darius would lose the majority of the time.

TL;DR

Champions that require low mechanical skill like Darius generally lose when laning against champions that require a lot of mechanical knowledge and experience like Fiora and Riven unless their numbers are a little overtuned(hint hint Maokai)

P.S.

I was bored and needed something to do so i just wrote down my opinion on Darius as a champion. Don't hate pls. <3

Yes it is Juggernaut are supposed to rely on their team for cc and initiation just like marksmen are supposed to rely on their team for protection

They are not freaking MARKSMEN. Dude if you just took damn master tier it doesnt mean your point of view became valuable. I was saying about classic toplaner Darius not freaking quasi "bottom" lane slot. Seriously even if he works well as "adc" let me just say to you - picking adc would be better anyway in terms on competitive play. Adcs are adcs. Juggernauts are juggernauts. They're supposed to be self-reliant characters. (Even if you build comp around freaking Darius that would just make you weaker than classic enemy comp)
