Autofill should be a toggle. (READ BEFORE YOU UP/DOWN VOTE)

Autofill. Gotta love it when your primary is top and secondary is jungle, but you get autofilled in your least favorite position...

Why it should be changed:

  1. It is supposed to lower match finding times, and yes, it does. But the thing is, a game can be 45 minutes long!

SOME PEOPLE DON'T CARE IF QUEUE TAKES 5-10 MINUTES LONGER IF IT MEANS THE DIFFERENCE FROM WINNING AND LOSING!!!

It should be able to be toggled. If someone doesn't care about getting autofilled as long as they have a shorter queue time, good on them! But if someone doesn't care HOW LONG THE WAIT IS, then disable it, so they can win.

Another point is, you can get autofilled in RANKED. Many people have lost more than a few ranked games because they were autofilled. If queue times are 10 minutes longer, so be it. I personally would like to win my ranked games.

That is pretty much it. It doesn't take a genius to see these points

EDIT 1: I can personally play any role I want to and do proficient. This discussion is not about becoming a master of every role. If you are, cool. Even then, it is only logical that it should be able to be toggled, because the reason it is there is to improve time to get into a game, and not to make you better at the game.

If needed, many people can try to carry as any role, but it is much harder as support. Let's be honest, if you are going to get autofilled, high chance it will be a support position. Unless you are going to steal kills and CS all game as support, you are going to have a hard time carrying a 1v9.

EDIT 1.5: Yeah, it is possible to carry games with support, I didn't say it wasn't.

Regardless, what if I don't want to play support? What if I'd rather wait in queue longer than play support? That is my point.

EDIT 2: "Why don't you just ask to switch?"

Whenever I get autofilled, or someone else does, OF COURSE I ask if I can switch. But do you think anyone else wants to be in your position? No. They don't want to be autofilled either. They might, maybe, but high chance they won't.

If it was able to be toggled because you didn't care about queue times, it wouldn't be a problem in the first place.

Saying "autofill should be a toggle" is pretty much the same thing as asking for it to be removed. There's a fill option already that people can choose for shorter queue times.

A mere 2 years ago every single player auto filled, and it wasn't even half as problematic as it is now, since the rise of one trick ponies has completely eradicated players needing to learn to play every role. Auto fill isn't the problem. People refusing to learn more than one or two roles is the true issue.

I, as an ADC main, do not want autofilled supports on my team. Arguments that support autofill being enabled 24/7 from Wood VIII to Challenger 1200LP needs to be much better than "muh old champ select" or "learn to play more than 1 role".

I think a better idea would be to change how auto-fill immunity works. One idea is to simply raise it from 2 games to 3 every time you fill or play support. Another idea would be to work on a charge system like ARAM re-rolls, whereby every time I fill or play support, I get 1 charge of immunity, 2 charges when I have none and 1 for every support game played when I have charges. There are times I spam the shit out of support and there are times I avoid it like the plague but with auto-fill, it's kinda tricky to avoid.
