Caitlyn Early game or Late game?

I just played adc caitlyn vs jinx. early game was great. we poked, we got a few kills, etc. However, late game was terrible for me. my cs was twice of hers, and she only had a few more kills than me, yet i kept losing 1v1s with her. she just melted my health bar faster than i could melt hers. It was like 30-40 mins in, i had 170 Damage, 1.50 as, and around 50-100 Crit.

So Caitlyn is strong when she can abuse her range advantage.

She strong in the early laning phase because she can poke her lane opponent and get a good lead in lane. She's weak in early teamfights (mid game) because she doesn't bring out the same level of sustained damage that most other ADCs do. She's easily outdamaged by most ADCs. She's strong late game because it gets to the point that a dead ADC = a lost teamfight. Caitlyn's range lets her hit higher priority targets without messing up her positioning. By late game, a 6 item ADC is also going to tear through anyone, so she doesn't have "less damage" anymore. Her traps also are great for sieging or defending a siege, or contesting an objective.

So yea, you're obviously going to lose to a Jinx in a 1v1. Caitlyn wins lane in that scenario, but her strong late game isn't because she outscales - it's because she has a better teamfight and objective control. On a strict damage basis, Caitlyn is still outclassed by most ADCs in the late game (she just scales well late game because she can apply that lower damage more easily / consistently / on better targets).

She's strong both early and late while her power kinda dips in the mid game. Doesn't sound very fair, but that's how she works.

Jinx is made to be a late game hyper carry and even outranges you by that time. Doesn't matter your CS/kills late game when typically most champ would have their core items.

jinx is a counter to cait... she has more attack speed her range on her rocket is the same as caits auto ... it has splash damage ,she wave clears 10xs better and late game her dps and attack speed is 10xs greater then cait.

however a fully fed build cait is strong late game one of the best champs at siege due to range and her enhanced autos with headshot/crit but cait isnt a duelist or a dps type of champ she does be chunks but not as fast as jinx/ or vayne for that matter

Early then early/mid when sieging is most effective. After mid game she falls off a bit, don't get me wrong, she still can 3 shot most carries at that point, but her kit is not built for hyper-scaling like Jinx's kit is for an example. She will level out somewhere around 25-40 minutes (basically I use lvl 13 as a standard since all that is left after it is to level your last ability 4 times and your ult once), depending on how the game goes.

If ahead it is closer to 40 minutes as to when she will fall off, and if behind it is closer to 25 since she wont scale into her full potential nicely. Note that ahead and behind both refer to item AND level advantage. If she has 2-3 levels on her opponents and one to 2 items over them, she will become a powerhouse nuking anyone. But if its the inverse, she will need to run from most fights (or at least be very cautious while fighting) because her damage will not be there.

IIRC, Caitlyn is strong both early-game and late-game. Her main slump is generally in the mid-game.

She is picked primarily for her utility. Most other ADCs have better steroids, however her long range and objective control (i.e. traps) are extremely useful.

Don't try 1v1ing enemy ADCs unless you are ahead or have poked them down first.
