You know how people get confused why Thresh won't proc Relic Shield's damage? This might help.
Just change the Execute damage line to red text, and add a line that lets you know you can't trigger the damage.

It could also help to just turn around the text. A lot of the confusion seems to stem from people believing that you need to kill the minion with melee basic attack for gold and heal, That makes them believe Thresh is melee. So:
Spoils of War: Killing a minion heals the owner and nearest allied champion for 40 health and grants both kill gold.
Additionally melee attacks execute minions below 200 health. (this champion is ranged)
These effects ...
Placing the melee condition after receiving the spoils may make it clearer that they are seperate.
This assumes people will actually read that little bubble though.

For he is Lee Sin, The Blind Monk.
Nah that's syndra the pizza lady!
Can't ranged champions still proc it if they are in melee range though? I know I've seen that shit happen, I'm not crazy am I?
They don't have to be in melee range at all, they just need to get the killing blow in any way. Melee just get execute damage to make it easy.
Ah thank you, that makes more sense. XD
Can confirm. I Q cannon mins when I play
if I can't melee them.
Well Support Jayce can proc it if he switches stances after firing his ranged shot (While it's midair).
It's a korean thing.
I gotta try this...
Honestly, it's also Riot's fail with Thresh, since because of his animations he appears to have melee attacks when very close.
Agree with the issue though. People can't read for shit these days.
but AD thresh is the greatest counter to yas since annie
: your pathetic windwall means nothing
Bitch please, AD Vel'Koz is where it's at.
I played an ARAM as crit vel'koz, yes i rushed statik
one of my teammates were like 'build ap, ad is terrible on vel"
fifteen minutes later I got 2 triples and proceeded to break turrets at maximum tentacle slappin' speed
but AD thresh is the greatest counter to yas since annie

's E "appears" on the target so windwall does nothing to stop it. I love picking Kayle into Yasuo :D
That's why I start
when I play Thresh. I main support because I'm bad at lasthitting, I'm not going to inflict on myself the pain of trying to lasthit the cannon while fighting the unaware ADC for it.
Yeah, starting
works better when you're still getting used to Thresh's AA damage. Once you get better though, go ahead and upgrade. ^.^
I thought that Relic shield would be better for new Thresh players, since Thresh is squishy early game so the extra HP helps them out whIle they learn the champion
Nah, coin should be better, I imagine, because it offers regen and new players are bad at managing their resources. In addition to being bad at last hitting
You're supposed to use the E passive damage to get the last hits more easily. Although, that means that you give up on good poke damage.
I don't want to give up my poke damage and 90% of the time my adc hits the cannon anyway so. ;__;
I thought this was common knowledge. People were bitching about it a while back.
It's not among "certain groups". The boards still get unformatted bug reports about it with titles like "terrible relic shield bug riot pls fix". And inside, they say nothing other than a claim that Relic Shield doesn't work at all.
So you look at their game to try and find any info at all about it and see there last game was with Thresh.
I'll still use it on thresh either way. Now if only the ADC will stop hitting the canon long enough for me to last hit properly... JK I've had plenty of ADCs that weren't brain dead. Some of them doe.
[slayer-jinx-unamused]
Some even will ping the minion too. I'm like........yes, don't mind if I do :D
[slayer-jinx-catface]
mmm that 45 shared gold.
Thresh also can't use Runan's hurricane, so it seem like he's basically considered neither ranged nor melee at this point.
I would never blame someone who didn't know this because it's entirely Riot's fault. It's a clarity issue.
Actually, Riot fixed that. Or at least they said they did.
It actually does proc Runaan's. There was probably a point at where he didn't, but it's fixed now.
Ah interesting. When I tried it I don't think he could even buy it. It gave the |Ranged only| description in red.
Ok, that was the time where they forgot to tag his attacks.
this bug prob was by the same time when shy couldnt use
, i never bought it on her anyway
I'm going to do full attack speed Thresh now. That animation looks like it'd be hilarious.
Who cares? He has that unnecessary passive on his E that basically gives him the execute passive anyway.
Ah, the point isn't to give him the execute, the point is to make it clear that he doesn't. Did you read it? The difference between his Flay damage and having the execute is pretty huge.

Was just a shitpost/shit joke/whining, dont mind me.
ah k
Red text seems to be reserved for showing that an ability scales with health though.
They already use red for Hydra/Runaan's showing Melee/Ranged only. For Health scaling it's more of an orange.
Isn't orange also sometimes used for AD scaling on skills though? I could be wrong, but I thought that was the case.
But red text means it scales with hp!! I MUST HAVE TO BUILD HP TO PROC RELIC! kappa
People who can't last hit properly get confused. Add that thresh's E passive is basically "here, let us help you last hit" and you have a bunch of scrubs, and only scrubs who get 'confused'
I've had a MF use Relic Shield, all she had to do was use her E- or which ever is her "Make-It-Rain" ability, auto attack with her hit a second person ability, and I think her Ult all proc-ed it.
It doesn't "proc it". Relic Shield has two passives. An execute and a heal+gold share. The execute is melee only. The other one is on last-hit, including with the execute if you're melee.
... this explains a lot. /I feel dumb now
Is there a reason why Poppy's passive interacts with Spoils like a melee? Its technically an empowered ranged auto-attack, so why doesn't it apply like a ranged attack would. Why does it execute minions below 200 hp like a normal melee AA. (This is not a nerf poppy support post plz. Just curiosity)
It's the same type of rule as Gangplank's Parrrley. There's no technicality about it, it's just designed that way. If you want to ask literally why they made that decision, idk. You'd have to bug Meddler to get the answer or something.
