Bard Rework?

Bard Bard - The Wandering Caretaker and Sometimes TK

I know he just came out, but I'm not sure if there's really a thing as over-buffing him. He was pretty useless even in URF. Hear me out on these slight rework changes.

Usually Bard has to ult in close proximity to himself. I would say either increase his Ult's range dramatically, make it a global ult with smaller radius, or make it radiate from Bard himself. I'm more for increasing his Ult's range. Bard's ultimate is the most interesting thing about him because it's the difference between Ace'ing the enemy team or being Aced.

As far as a rework, I'd prefer his stun move to his passive, and his passive move to his stun. Basically, the meeps charge his AA which is now a passive on his q which will only slow. Stacking meeps and q will slow down any opponent long enough for his ADC to arrive. His damage potential will rise dramatically without actually increasing his stats at all. This makes Bard simpler, and easier to understand. Less unpredictability would lead to better plays for Bard. His stun can still take the regular once every 12 seconds in his passive. The stun is too hard to land, too short, and the q CD is too long. Bard's Q is right about AA range anyways so this change would mean that Bard's combo could change into AA-Q-AA instead of not being able to risk missing a perfect Q for a mere AA.

His gate travel needs to warp the space around it for a limited range travel through any space. This keeps him from having to use his ult to save his teammates. This also allows a dynamic which moves the team fights and puts strategic planning at it's best.

Bard is not a lost cause, he just needs some tweaking. Bard is difficult, but he can't be a champion that's unplayable to 80% of League. I really want to like Bard, I do. He just needs some changes.

P.S. I did learn Bard. I know how to maximize Bard's abilities and control a game. My argument is that it's not rewarding enough and it's too intensive.

Bard is pretty good. The probelm is that he is rather difficult to play.

Exactly. He doesn't have a clear advantage over a support Lux or Soraka. He can lock down a target, but when it comes to a 1v1, the situation turns to throwing a Q and praying that it hits the enemy, and the wall behind them so you can run away. He has no zoning, in fact probably even the opposite of a zoning effect, Global Taunt. He's too risky for little reward. Skill is consumed trying to compensate for him.

Bard is freaking op dude. Honestly it sounds like you have never played him. Oh wait, i've checked your NA.op.GG and you've never even touched him once! shocking. His kit is pretty strong and i've been playing him recently and honestly i think hes one of the top supports atm and i think you will be seeing a lot of him in competitive play soon.

Bard is actually extremely powerful, especially in URF. In Urf, if he stunned his opponent, they had 0.1 or so seconds I believe to react if they didn't have any other forms of tenacity (Im including the buff), meaning as long as they didn't have an instant teleport ready, he could basically permastun them. His Q in normal play is actually much more powerful than you think. It is hard to land, but it lasts for 1.8 seconds, is up every 7 seconds (less with CDR), and has 900 range (his AA range is 500). The only complaint I have about his Q is it's missile speed might be a little slow, but thats understandable since his Q can basically instawin a trade in lane if you catch both of your lane opponents with it. Imagine a Leona engage, but on two people. That is what it can do, every 7 seconds. By the way, you should always max Q with a few points in W since, as said, it is Leona level initiation every 7 seconds. Bard's ultimate is, yes, used in close proximity majority of the time, but it's large range allows it for those rare yet very useful uses such as dragon poaching and tower saving.

I have played my fair share of Bard since release and trust me, he is really good the way he is. He just needs a team that knows what he can do, and a player that knows how to manage chime trips and use their ultimate properly (Hint: Majority of the time you should try to use your ultimate on enemies and not allies).

I did permastun some people in URF. But it's those .001 seconds of just smashing buttons to knock bard away or in one hit shut him down. I played Bard a lot, even during URF. I refunded him after because I was just not able to find a fun and active way to use him. It's hard to see any of my stats since I never do ranked.

I don't like the support meta (or meta in general). I prefer to break the meta, but the support meta makes certain champions (Soraka & Bard) 100% reliant on someone else. And that's fine in exchange for increased utility, but it's the amount of positioning, wait, and boredom that really makes him uninteresting. You get the one or two major plays in an entire game. But Bard doesn't influence the outcome of a game as strongly the way that Soraka or Janna does.

A reshuffle isn't bad. He isn't being nerfed in any way by my suggestion. He'd just be getting the best of his kit by putting them in the best place possible. What's wrong with a ability that moves champions not only through walls but through empty space? I honestly think that dynamic would open up for Bruisers to dart directly behind the enemy team. Most champions I see in high ranked games already use champions who have some sort of wall skipping. Ziggs, Riven, Kalista, etc.

They're tiny changes, truthfully.
