Grants 20% CDR, 120 AP, and! UNIQUE passive: +20% Spellvamp UNIQUE passive: Your spellvamp now overheals you at full health, granting you a shield for (amount that scales on level).

This?

This right here?

This would work much better with a Mage's damage rotation since bursting people is sort of their thing. Being able to heal/shield up would also help a Mage deal with tanky derps a bit better since they're able to sustain in a fight. See, there's the problem with trying to improve Mage damage against hard targets by giving them another nuke, it just lowers the bar for erasing a squish. But by giving them an actually useful spellvamp item? MUCH better option for grinding a Tank down.

Of course, there are certain Akali people Vladimir who are kind of silly with spellvamp, but one of them could probably use a bit of love and the other, well, we'll see how she's doing once DFG is gone.

I don't think we need to homogenize AP and AD items (sustain, especially, works very differently for champions of either type), and spell vamp has too many problems right now to be added onto a 120 AP item. It's not just a problem with Vlad or Morde, it's also an issue of the stat being improperly gated, and difficult to implement in a manner that's interesting to most AP champions without being overpowered. Unlike AD champions, whose autoattack-based healing is pretty consistent overall, AP champions have tons of different ways of spell vamping, to the point where it's impossible to expect every AP champion to handle spell-based sustain in the same way (hence why some champions do too well with the stat and others don't like it at all).

I think Ahri with spellvamp might be a thing.

That new WotA is a pretty massive buff compared to the old one. If they were to do that, it'd probably need to cost about 3300. So then it's still just stuck being only useful on Morde, Vlad, Akali, and maybe a couple others since no one else has very good efficiency on building spellvamp. So IMO this doesn't really solve any of the problems that are going to arise from removing DFG.

Well, it means every single AP mage/assassin now has massive spellvamp to go with (really, who's going to turn down a 120 AP item?), and it means the main offenders (Vlad, Akali, Morde) are now even more overbearing.

@turning down 120 AP items - DFG is hardly staple.
