Why is FQC on mid laners?

They can build it for huge CC, Fully built can farm and harass, getting gold for both without the delay, the Ghosts allow for chase, zone coverage, ganks. its ideal

- weak passive - expensive for minimal combat stats

1. Poor vision in League currently makes this is a good active at the worst for scouting.
2. Active is great for escaping ganks and making picks.
3. VERY cheap and pays for itself eventually

Morello's needs a real passive that matters more frequently -- lots of ADC builds skip LS till 4th item now, very few sustain based champions are played or vulnerable to the passive.

Athene's either needs to give truly infinite mana, cost less, or give more combat stats.

In fact, we've seen a huge rise in RoA using mages because of how terrible the other options are STILL

Because access to that strong of a slow is really good for picking off people and forcing early leads etc.

As a Sona mid main i really just get it to cover up her shortcomings. I get an engage/chase CC that gives me vision of other nearby enemy champs. I only need one poke combo to expend all gold gen charges (which also add 15 damage each, making my harass better). Pretty useful in those games where i just can't keep the farming even.
