Am I the only one? Does anyone even look forward to next season?

@riot , please give me 10-30min que times. I will gladly take them, just please remove autofill.

You aren’t the only person queuing for a game. You might be fine with 30 minute waits, but what about the other 9 people waiting for a game?

I don't mind autofill tbh. It gives people the pleasure of discovering the pain and angst that other roles go through.

I know I'm very late to this comment. But there is a simple fix for this.

Let those who want to be autofilled get shorter que times, and those who don't want autofill get longer que times.

Have an option that allows you to enable autofill or not. If you click No, you have to wait until you get your role ( no matter how long it takes ). If you click yes, you will be qued in as soon as possible with the same priority for your own role.

I don't know why this is not a feature.

....

That’s not how that works.

Everyone is in the same queue. Now people have dropped out of being in autofill, which makes the people still in to wait longer. So they get upset and decide to drop out of it. This snowballs until no one is in the autofill queue and the times are insanely long.

The system only works when everyone agrees that sometimes they have to bite the bullet and play a role they don’t like. You don’t like autofill? Then the only solution is to remove position select, which means everyone is autofilled.

How can it "NOT" work that way?

How is it unreasonable or invalid, to implement a system that allows people to be autofilled or not. If someone doesn't want to wait 30mins for a que, they can basically use the "fill option" which is exactly what autofill is. I do not understand your response. The people who want to be autofilled, will have there lane selection available, and if its not available they will be swapped into the next role that is open after a certain period of time.

In what world does this create a butterfly affect where everyone has to be autofilled or not? And even if you wanted to exaggerate it and say, not one person in all of league of legends during que will opt into autofill, you can always set a max que timer. ( not the perfect solution ) but even the extremes of your point have checks that can be implement.

Heck if its even problematic you can even disable this opt-in/opt-out option for higher ranks like master - challenger tier..

Edit: Also, if your saying that this creates frustration, doesn't that further emphasize the point, that no one wanted autofill to begin with?

There is no “two separate” queue types.

Even if someone opts out of autofill, they are still in the exact same queue line that everyone else is in. Which means while you are maybe ok with waiting a long time for your game (which I don’t think you really do, you’re just frustrated and want an out), then everyone else has to wait that same time to get a game.

Yes, autofill sucks to deal with sometimes, but it’s the only solution to having decent queue times, balanced matches, and getting your role selections (a vast majority of the time). There’s four demands with the queue system, and it’s only possible to fulfil 3 of them all the time.

The way it snowballs is that people opt out. Then the remaining people still in the autofill system start experiencing longer and longer queue times with them getting their preferred roles less and less. This causes frustration that makes them opt out, backing up the system even more. Eventually you just have a bunch of players sitting around waiting because they all want to play mid and there’s only 3 support players.

That’s why team builder was removed. It was great for getting exactly what you wanted to play, but the queue times just made it unuseable. And as people just decided to give up and play blind or draft pick, the queue timers got even longer.

1st off. Don't ever assume what I want. I will tell you straight up, I actually did enjoy team builder and Loved doing it. I was sad it was removed, and preferred it over this plain and simple.

2nd off. I think your mis-understanding something major about my post. I am not saying there are "two separate queue types" Yes there is one que type, but it can have "2! different ways it can affect players.".

The first one is simple. have the same queue system as it is. Everyone has a chance of getting there role. mid, top, jungle, bot , sup, whatever. During that system, lets say you have 18 different players. waiting to get into a game. For the sake of simplicity, some of the roles overlap and not everyone will check off all the boxes of what is being fulfilled. So what will happen, obviously only 10 people can get into a game, with some of the players being autofilled. For the sake of simplicity again, lets say only one of those players are support players. So you got 2 top players, 2 junglers, 2 mids, 3 adcs, 1 sup waiting in queue. the extra adc gets filled into support. or whatever lane he has as his secondary. Meaning that only 9 people gets there preferred role. And 8 people are sitting out waiting for an additional 2 players to meet the queue requirements to start another game. When the 2 players eventually arrive, the system will again sort out who will get placed into what roles based on what is missing and what is already there. This is what it would look like with the current system.

What I'm simply saying is that instead of having everyone opt in for autofill, lets take the above scenario and create a system where instead of the 18 players, we have the same amount of players, with '1' choosing not to be autofilled. Again for the sake of simplicity, lets say that person was the extra adc. And his secondary role was toplane. Instead of being autofilled to support since he was opt out. The system would try to balance around forcing that spare adc into top lane or bot lane. By either taking the top laner ( who has autofill opt in ) and place him into support, or by shuffling others around into there secondary position. Quite simple right. But you may be asking, isn't what what is already happening? Yes, this already happens quite a lot , where roles get shuffled to assure as little people get auto filled as possible. The question then becomes, what if there is no role that adc can go into that isn't already taken by someone forced into another role... Simple. "you skip that player and go into the other 8! that are still waiting to get into queue.." In any given system you always have extra players lingering around, so your never truly going to run into the problem where Everyone is opt out of autofill and no one can get into a game. Cause the players that have autofill opt in will always be able to find a match. All this will do is make it so players who want to be autofilled get autofilled and players who don't want to get autofilled wont get autofilled. There are no separate que times, just the one queue time with 2 different pirorites for players. The non autofilled players will wait until there is someone ready to fill there team selection role needs. and if there isn't, they will wait longer que times, cause they opted out for it. Consider this the same as the fill option, but instead waiting for other players to just fill in, you sort around the problem normally , but after a certain period of time 1-2mins past the normal queue times, you put players into a fill position. And those who don't want to be filled will simply wait as long as it takes for them to get into a game with all the prerequisite requirements.

Now your probably going to respond with "Well your gonna have more players that don't want to be autofilled so it creates a unfair balance for those who opt into this system. They will be shafted and never get there role" to that I say. Isn't that the point? If you reach that conclusion that no player will ever opt into this system, isn't that just agreeing that autofill was garbage to begin with?

Autofill will not go away next season. But the good news is that autofilled players will be paired with people at their respective skill levels (at that position) - supposedly. (I've noticed that since autofill was diminished this year there has been a lot less tolerance for other roles.)
