Ideas for Aatrox
(Warning: kind of a long read) (take this with a grain of salt, they're only ideas I found interesting) Hey guys, so recently I've been thinking about this absolute mess of a unit that's been brought to us. I've heard many people complain about the rework, and playing against and as him feels pretty awkward in some stages. So thinking about him, I had some ideas that could make his gameplay more fluid, and help us out in this whole "too much damage" scenario:
Passive: Get rid of the new, back with the old. His passive would be his old one once again, it would charge with damage dealt (much higher scaling with damage to champions) and as it charged, it would provide him with a bit of healing from abilities (which would simply scale with his level, and it would be intensely lowered against minions). Furthermore, he doesn't need to have it fully charged in order to be revived, it would just revive him with much more health than without. Maybe fully charged it would revive him for 50% health, however between 1%-99% it would only be between 10%-25% of his health or something. I would think to make his poke less oppressive, as now he has flat healing from his e, which if he's poked down, he can use his first two Qs to poke you, and heal back up. However now, he has to commit in order to make use of the healing and his passive.
Q: It's fine, still awkward, but I don't have any ideas for it
W: I thought of a small mix of his old and new with an extra effect added in, it would now go through units and slow them a bit, however he can reactivate it to cause the effect of his new W. If it passes through a champion, he can reactivate it to tether them and cause the same effects as he has now. Again, just to make it a bit more fluid instead of missing it an losing all his tempo.
E: The dash is okay, just feels like Riot threw on the healing here to remind you to level it once in a while. Don't have any viable ideas since it goes pretty well with his Q.
R: Now here's where it gets interesting. Currently, his R is just a free GA with movespeed and extra AD, all fine and everything. Just wanted to change this one-button-GA mechanic. I would keep the movespeed and AD, however give him a few more effects: A tiny bit of attack speed just so you're not always reliant on your abilities to do anything, increase the rate at which his passive charges, and dealing damage now reduces the effect of defense penetrating items? Or even reduces their AD. I'm not fully sure what exactly it should be. But make him more of a rally teamfighter, that would reduce the attack potency of the enemy team so your team isn't being shredded down constantly. So his ultimate would be a mix of a couple small effects, that increase his ability to deal damage, but also decrease the enemy's to hurt your team.
