Is the fighter rework ever going to arrive Riot?

You've been mentioning reworking fighters since season 1. You confirmed there'd be one in mid 2013. Here's a list of fighters that have been reworked since then:

Olaf Sion Gragas Skarner

That's 4 fighters. The client states that there are 36 fighters in total. Even if you disregard Kayle/Jayce/Vlad/Diana and the other "controversial" champs that could pass as mages or what not, there's still about 30 fighters.

Now here's a list of those 30 unreworked melee fighters that are currently competitive top lane:

Irelia Mundo

That's about it really. You promised an overhaul of their itemization since the end of season 2 and this is what you've accomplished regarding helping fighter itemization since then.

-Trinity Force procs now scale with more base AD (this helps melee champs more than ranged champs since melees have higher base AD)

Here's what you've done to hurt their itemization:

-Atma's Removed (Season 5) -Frozen Mallet build path nerfed and confirmed by Xypherous to be removed -Wit's End nerfed from Season 2 -Spirit Visage nerfed -Black Cleaver nerfed -Randuin's Omen movement slow removed while red buff still has its slow

In season 4 you reworked all of marksmen itemization, added more support and AP build paths, added quill coat for tanks, but did nothing for fighters. And currently in competitive play, almost none of the 30 or so fighters are even usable in top lane. They get shoved out of lane by ranged champions and get outscaled by AP champions and AD carries. Unless they have a lot of utility they won't be used anymore.

If you want to make melee vs. range work in this game you have a long way to go. Forget about red buff slow, about 70ish% of champs have a slow. Almost every new champion lately has a slow in their kit. Do you know who slows hurt more? Melees. Slows are way more effective against melee champions than ranged champions. Slows shouldn't be thrown onto every single ability out there, they should be in short supply because all they do is cause mobility creep. The only way melee can be usable with the amount of slows in the game is to be extremely mobile or to just be a full tank so they can distract the ranged carry.

Another big topic is Last Whisper and Void Staff. These items were deemed overpowered by both Xypherous and Morello in Season 3 and nothing has been done about them. Personally I would remove both items and nerf resist values from items by about 20% or so. It'd make it more of a smooth curve: No longer are tanks invincible early mid game but then lose 40% of their stats once the enemies get LW/VS.

Is Season 5 going to be the season where you finally accomplish something with fighters and melee vs. range in general? You've prolonged it for quite enough.

I'd rather read an Hashinshin post than this.

At least part of it would be right.

Anyway, you're making a laundry list of atrocities committed against the FIghter class and lamenting over what other classes got instead of actually going into detail of what's wrong and what you think should be done.

The part on Void Staff and Last Whisper is especially mind boggling.

I did go through what they should do with changing Last Whisper and Void Staff, fixing the huge amount of slows in the game, as well as removing the slow from red buff.

Did you even read the post?

Maybe if they made all slows affect attack speed as well as movespeed (like most slows in DotA) then Riot will finally realize that slapping dozens of high % slows on every champion around is a bad idea. After all, Marksmen would now be affected almost as much as Melees (although all the single target skillshots stills skews this against melee.)

The fighter rework has to start from the support champion's sheer amount of dedicated peel. Then you can tone down their mobility. In return for major movement speed slow nerfs, you give them attack speed slows so supports are still great vs. ADs, just not as biased against the melee ones.

do you really think rito care enough about fighters?

Yeah armor pen definitely needs some kind of change. I typically build LW as a core damage item nearly every game to great effect.

There's literally no situation where it's a bad buy (super cheap to boot), especially if the champion deals spell/burst damage.

I mean didn't Atmas, Warmogs, Randuin's, SV, and Banshee's get nerfed for literally the same reason (that they were being picked every game)? Botrk should be changed as well. There will be no tanking in this game as long as Botrk exists in its current state. The passive should be changed to magic damage or something that doesn't synergize so well with penetration pickups.

ADCs and AD assassins like Zed are the main champions that benefit from the current Botrk and neither of them are in need of help right now.

pretty sure the fighter rework is something that is going to take place slowly over a couple seasons through patches that introduce healthy champions and rebalance old champions. they probably think of gnar as an example of a "new age" fighter since his form changes create a back and forth flow to the lane that is more dynamic than noodle fights.
