So what are people's opinions of Jax right now?

I was looking at his lolking stats and his win rate in diamond is abysmally low, sometimes even dropping down to 43% lately.

Do people still think he's good? The numbers make it seem like he's garbage tier, but I just wanna hear the general consensus

The only advantage he has over Irelia is being 1350 IP.

He's pretty bad right now tbh. Nerfs and meta change hit him really hard.

Granted, a big reason why he's especially bad is because of Ryze and Gnar being so good vs. every melee in general.

Great champion! I basically got to D4 with Jax alone and now almost D5 on my smurf :). If you mastered him like i did, you can win every single lane in the game. I hear ppl say Ryze/Gnar, well i win those lanes 80% of the time as Jax and those are considered hard lanes for Jax. Jax has the tools in his kit to completely crush anyone if he gets slightly ahead.

Strenghts: elite splitpush/duelist, counters alot of champs, can be strong teamfighter vs specific teamcomp, snowballs like crazy Weakness: hard to recover in lane if u fall behind, can be weak in teamfights vs hard cc/kite teamcomp

He doesn't have much room in the current meta, but I think he's just as strong as he's always been. Unless he's directly countered (Renekton), his early/mid game is pretty strong and he can snowball pretty well.. He would probably be a better jungle than anything at the moment.

I thought he was terrible after nerfs until I had enough playtime with his new stats to have a good feeling for his power level. He still absolutely crushes in Bronze and Silver where people don't know how to pick/play against him and is still banned there as he was long before people started banning him in higher ELOs. He isn't really good as a jungler anymore unless their team consists primarily of autoattacking champions, in which case you should probably just pick someone like Rammus. Jax just doesn't have the health anymore to survive the fight after initiating. In top he is decent but requires a lot of right clicking to keep his passive stacked for when the opportunity to trade arises. For most players he might be considered more of a niche pick against champions such as Tryndamere and Fiora who rely primarily on hard-hitting autoattacks to assert lane control. Anyway he is still viable and fun to play, his overall win ratio has gone back to 50%ish so he isn't in as bad a position as some others. If you enjoy his playstyle he is definitely a champion worth mastering. He's still one of the best split pushers and duelists out there and still the strongest champion in the entire game with a 6 item build.

Gnar and Ryze are just broken right now. Jax is one of many who are suffering because of this.

Melee carries in general are trash and have been for a while. They are so easy to play against in the lane. derp ryze/jayce. They are slowly being removed from the game. Long live the master race marksmen!
