An Idea to Add Skill Expression to Shielding/Healing Allies

So I've been seeing a lot of people disgruntled over the fact that supports can give instant shields and heals to allies because it makes adcs way too hard to kill. So here's my low elo idea on that matter:


Shielding

  • Prevent Shields from stacking. Only Apply the most powerful shield.

  • Shield A = 100 HP, Shield B = 110 HP. Stacking Shields A + B = 110HP.

  • This would add skill expression to shields through timing. Instead of stacking a bunch of shields on Vayne, you would have to time your shields by applying one right as the previous shield expires for maximum damage mitigation.

  • This would also nerf anti-burst somewhat because the rate at which some assassins do damage would outpace the speed that supports can cast spells without sacrificing maximum damage mitigation.


Healing

  • All heals should be over time instead of instant. This would include Lifesteal.

  • Heals should first apply as Gray HP (Like Tahm), and than convert at a set rate. (Conversion rate could be improved through items like Redemption?)

  • Taking damage would remove all unconverted Gray HP. This would make healing a minigame.

  • This would make healing skill-expressive through timing, and proper positioning.

  • Shields are already anti-burst. Heals would be less anti-burst and more sustain with this change.

  • Could also make grievous wounds unnecessary, giving players more options when against high-sustain champions.

That's my two cents.

Part with heal would make soraka completely useless

Make the "Heal and Shield Power" bonus scale with the recipient's missing HP rather than being a straight-up bonus.

I think that improving the effectiveness of clutch heals/shields is better than just making them even more braindead than they currently are.

you do realise that they would have to then buff sheilding and healing because of this right. Not to mention that you solidify using healing on a tank / bruiser as bad and only ever using healing and sheilds on adcs who can usually only ever get 1 person to jump on them who they promtly shread. Maybe in another slower game (even slower than season 3 league) this could work. Maybe a turnbased game. also damage on every class would have to be dropped to accommodate this.
