Thoughts on Master Yi + Devourer.
First of all every single post on Master Yi always turns into "hard CC he's useless." I completely agree. If you are playing at a high elo, and your team is coordinated, and your ping is under 70, and the stars align just right, it will counter yi 100% of the time.
Note I said counter Yi. The issue with the patch series we are in is that with the boost to ADC's, and a general lowering of tank survivability, as well as tank jg'ing being much weaker than it has in a long time... we are at a point in LoL where any typical comp has 2-3 high threat targets at any given time. Simple having Yi JG in a game forces a team to both require multiple options for hard CC built into your comp, plus the ability to counter JG Yi to prevent Sated stacking. This is in addition to the massive threat he presents to your backline if he does manage to Q out of an important CC, which even by accident happens quite often.
While at the high end of league play I'll admit Yi is a non issue. That's said with riot essentially acknowledging that the game is now balanced for pro play... and Yi's relatively weaker pro play presence... is it not time for a rework?
If Yi is not seeing much pro play, or performing poorly there-in... while seeing a ton of play in low-elo, and in modes where you cannot ban, or counter pick hard CC into him.. why is he not on the list to receive a Sion/Poppy/Fiora style rebalancing so he has both a higher skill cap, and becomes a viable high elo pick.
Personally I think most of the issue lies in his kits incredible synergy with devourer, though both his passive, his steroid, and his ulti's ability to stick to targets which is something many champions that rely on flash/tele/dash engages struggle with. While I find his Q annoying, to me it is Yi's defining skill, and the one that allows for those flashy penta kill montage videos. I'm fine with that, it's just his version of Darius Ulti in that respect. I have issue with his W as it in no way fits the style of a "martial arts master". While I see reference in it to the "iron body" aspect of Kung Fu... it just feels like it's in-game use is more of a cheap sustain, or way to eat a tower shot after a dive. The heal aspect of Yi's W could go away for some added utility.
Just some thoughts on what I would see as a viable rework. Honestly haven't put as much thought into these as I should, as this post is more of a rage response after the above linked game. It's frustrating as all heck to start off 3/1/1 with 150 cs at the 20 minute mark(which for a silver 5 I'm more than happy with, ain't as young as I used to be and I don't have the reflexed I used to) only to get stomped by an out of control Yi.
**Passive: Iron Body: After dealing damage reduce incoming damage by 30% for 2 seconds. 8 Second Cooldown.
Q: Leave as is.
W: Focused Strike: On next hit deal 10/30/50/70/90+60% bonus AD damage, and stuns target for .5 seconds. If a champion is stuck Master YI gains immunity to movement impairing effects for 2 seconds. 16/14/12/10/8 second CD.
E: Leave as is.
R: Remove movement impairment immunity.
Increase base armor by 3, increase base health regen by 2.**
Just my 2 cents. Takes him from a farm devourer, hit r and hard engage champ that has a ton of sustain, to something that can interrupt channels, and trade very well if played correctly opening laning as an option.
