Why is Annie still a thing?

Riot is has been reworking point and click mages like Ryze, Zilean, Veigar to improve counterplay and in the 5.24 patch notes they just tuned Twisted Fate specifically referring to his his point and click stun. But Annie, the poster child of this type of play-style remains at large. They even promoted a video recently about input buffering, instructing us how to further abuse Annie's flash Tibbers mechanics. In the past, when a champion has had a decidedly broken or oppressive ability/play-style they have been nerfed out of viability until a rework comes around like Poppy and Yorick. I don't think Annie is overpowered or anything. I just don't understand Riot's double standard mindset towards her.

Its not a double standard. Its counterplay. There NEEDS to be champions with point and click CC to punish champions like Zed, Kalista, Yasuo, etc... Mobility creep is already bad in this game. If every form of CC was a skillshot champions with high mobility would run amok.

Annie is actually extremely well balanced. She's strong in low elo but is still very useful in higher elo. She's not oppressive in any elo, really. She's very vulnerable due to very low mobility and needs to have a stun up any other time. She's also pretty boned if multiple threats come at her (without grouping on top of each other!). She's strong in some matches and weak in others. I don't like laning against an annie but I also don't mind it. You know exactly what to expect, when to engage, and when to back off. She almost can't outplay anybody, and therefore has clear points of time where you can punish her.

Annie has seen few changes because her fanbase is as rabbid as lee-sins. Its also why riven hasnt seen many negative changes since the major dumpstering.

Annie also isnt that bad. she was popular for a time because itemization favored her, but in the end, immobility is a death knell few can escape from.

If annie does get changes, i hope its that tibbers scales off of AD/MS/ASP too. Id love it if AD annie became viable as a pet character.

They have a double standard for everything that they do basically.

Like they say that they should nerf and buff at the same time.

But then they nerf Soraka 5 times without a buff in one patch.

Or when they said that big balls of stats and overloaded kits are not a healthy compilation for a champion and yet these champions continue being created Ekko Yasuo LeeSin
