So lets say I get placed in Iron 4, this preseason. Than I get all the way up to silver 5 before season 9 starts, does that mean next season I'll be placed in Silver when I redo my placements? Or will I be placed in higher elo based on the MMR given from the preseason?

Just to remind you, you can't get to silver 5. You can get to silver 4.
Your elo doesn't get halved.
Silver 4 would probably get a bronze 2 or 3 provisional rank.
If you went 10-0 you could probably start higher than where you place now.
you would get your elo halved. Lets say you do get to silver 5 it would be reduced + depending how well you do placements So if you land silver 5 preseason you would get at least bronze 2 or 1 in S9 at least thats how ive always experienced it( hope i explained that well )
