Damage SERIOUSLY don't add up in recap. Seems like a shit ton of damage are invisible & just there.

Am I the only person who runs into this problem in this Season especially?

I constantly die to extremely high damage and when looking at recap, even when all of the damage sources are on display they rarely, if ever, add up. And in fact, it can be as extreme as 2000 out of 3000 burst damage being such "invisible" damage (and yes, 3000 burst damage post-mitigation is a thing in the current state of the game because fuck you); though the typical is like being killed by like 2-3 damage sources and then you check it up and it's missing like 600 damage out of 1700 which is like 1/3rd of the whole package just there for no reason.

So the problem is either:

  1. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong with how the damage is calculated. I have had this theory that Riot simply forgot to add a cap on the damage synergy and scaling with items and whatever and things interact with each other far more times than intended resulting in skyrocketing damage that often seriously dwarfs and mismatch the intended damage (if recap is calculating the theoretical damage you should be taking and not the actual damage you've taken).
  • if the theory is true, then this is after the fact the game ALREADY has a case with damage creeping and then you wonder why the game's damage is unfathomably high.
  1. Too many sources of damage are not displayed in the recap such as runes, which is a problem sure, but the more sinister layer is that if this is true, this would mean often just the runes alone either MATCH or OUT damages the champs whole kit + items. That is extremely gross and speaks for a much deeper problem with today's damage meta.

I know the recap has always been broken, but as it currently stands, I feel the recap is far more inconsistent than any of the previous seasons. I don't know if anything is not broken in this game anymore. Fuck me.

the damage recap hasn't worked for the majority of the game's existence

it can say that BOOTS killed you or even champions that aren't in the game

Yay, a whole new generation of players gets to learn about the Riot experience that is Death Recap! They've been "too busy" to fix it since 2011.

Damage recap only shows you the top 3 sources of damage and the top 3 ways each of those sources did damage to you...

So if an ezreal did most of his damage by auto attacking, q, and r but his e and w chunked you at one point, neither his e or w will show up on death recap (unless they did more damage than his R or q or basic attacks, then they would take their place in recap)

Cue the small indie company memes

Honestly death recap might be the only thing in the game buggier than even morde. Half the symbols that show up for damage don't even use the right images, I still get the old ravage icon evelynn damage or the movespeed from her e as damage. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/0/0c/Whiplash_2.png/revision/latest?cb=20171221035839

I think the only reason they don't fix Recap is it probably require so much revision of the game code and break half the game with their spaghetti.

Seriously how hard is to keep track of damage?

All you need to do is add a tracker in the function they use to subtract HP

Death recap is known to not be accurate. It wasnt future proofed properly and needs an entire backend rework to fix, but is low priority. Its been like this since probably S1.

What do you expect from game made on bunch of scripts? Of course everything is buggy and inacurate as hell
