Day 1 Akali Feedback (Personally)

Let's start with the negatives, to get those out of the way.

  1. Her range is too short. Every ability feels like it just falls off before it should, resulting in a lot of awkward Q's or - even worse - flash-e's.
  2. There's an incredibly large delay in her second ult dash, which can be incredibly crippling for an effective assassination
  3. She feels really slow, even with tier-2 boots
  4. Her shroud spreading outwards during its duration and being open in the middle leaves Akali slowly forced out of whatever position she wanted to be in, as well as sometimes poofing out of her invisibility before she wants to be out.
  5. Her W is a skillshot, and if you click to place it outside of its limited range, Akali'll just stop everything she's doing and walk to be in range to place it where you clicked, which feels really bad, and will more often than not leave you just walking around like an idiot trying to put it down.

Next, the positives!

  1. Damage is great. Her kill potential is startling if you don't respect her.
  2. Windows of opportunity are also great. If she goes in on you, she really doesn't have any way out, and so is forced to plant her feet (and usually dies), meaning positioning is super important now that she doesn't have 3 long-range dashes out. If her shroud's down, eat her face.
  3. Spamming her dance is one of my favorite reasons to pick her.
  4. Her mini-stun offers her some counter against channel-based champs (Like Fiddlesticks' drain continuing through her invisibility)

Haven't won a game as her yet, it's been pretty miserable, but I know it's majorly due to her being a fresh release and her playstyle being WILDLY different from what's expected. I'm having a lot of trouble remembering that fights are meant to be engaged with the first dash, that it's not supposed to be saved for vital moments. But I can't shake the feeling that some part of it is that her E and Q just never feel right in regards to how far they go.

Possible fixes:

  1. Give her +50 range on her E and her Q. (I don't actually know how far that is, but it sounds decent.)
  2. Make her W an automatic self-cast.
  3. Shorten the delay on using her execute dash, seeing how she's a burst champion.

You mean... like most every other champion with a range limit on abilites?

Eh, that one’s a bit contention point I could see. A lot of champions when you cast outside the ability range, it simply casts the ability from max range in that direction. I personally much prefer that method, compared to something like Taliyah’s shove which moves you in range, then casts it

I hope you realized that they legit packed her kit as full as they could. Let me count off all the things that they decided to give her:

A AOE ranged heal that slows

Extra movement speed after landing any of her spells and a longer-ranged empowered auto attack

A long-range skillshot that gives an infinite range dash to the target

An area of invisibility that turrets ignore, gives extra movement speed, and can be extended

A stun and dash in addition to her E's dash

You really have nothing to complain about. This bitch has more utility than Camille and more burst than Zed, along with Talon-level mobility.

Garen's Q is a movespeed autoattack reset nuke silence that can't be cancelled once the animation starts.

His W gives him free resistances for last-hitting, can be activated to %reduce damage, and timed properly it can reduce disables.

His E is an AOE armor-shredder that deals more damage based on his champion level as well as his ability level

His ult is a magic damage nuke dealing more damage the less HP you have, and makes him deal true damage to the Villain.

His passive is Warmog's armor, for free.

Pick literally any champion and list every single thing each ability can do and they'll sound just as ridiculous.

You realise stating the fact it scales on ability and champ level makes you look desperate? Most things do this to a degree in a broad sense.

I do have to partly agree to the main point, in the fact that i have not lost to an akali yet. I think her Q should not heal off of minions (i believe i see it doing so), and i think her W needs a big change, as it is wonky for both parties, and mostly consists of both champs just sitting there waiting for her to come out, the last one was better.

Desperate? No, it literally scales on champ level. He gets more damage ticks as he levels up, 1 extra tick per 3 levels. How is that desperate when that's a mechanic of the spell??

Aaaaand Garen's still fucking busted. What do you want from a champion that was part of the first lineup? He's incredibly strong. You gave the wrong example for what you were going for. If I can really name anyone, here:

Mordekaiser:

He does not use mana to cast abilities, instead, he requires health and his abilities hive him some shield.

His passive gives him a shield that decays to 1/4 while not in combat

His Q empowers his auto attacks and does significantly more on the third hit

His E deals damage in a cone

His W deals DOT as long as there is another ally around with the effect on them, and heals him and anyone that has the effect on them based on how many enemies are around, healing gained reduced from minions.

His R deals 30% (max rank) of the target's max health over 10 seconds. If the enemy dies in the 10 seconds, he gains their ghost for 40 seconds.

Looking at this, all of what he's got and the gameplay state he's in is based ONLY AROUND NUMBERS. If the numbers on his Q/E/W are low, he's garbage. If they're high, he's overpowered. There's no bullshit slows, or dashes, or executes, nothing. His R is the only thing in his kit remotely good without huge number buffs. Sure, his shield is nice, until you see what the numbers say: not even his max hp? Doesn't scale with anything? Decays to 1/4 when not in combat? Or his E: damage in a cone. Whoopee

Annie is another base character, also she's squishy AF. Not like you're going to walk into the middle of 3 people. Also, warwick hiding in bush? Welcome to the gray screen :D

Annie's AOE is good, except for the fact that the range is terrible. If you're that close, you're probably already dead. Her shield is nothing more than a way to charge her passive. Last-hitting assist? Nice, train noobs. That's her only sustainable waveclear; it's not hard to outpush her.

For the record, Teemo is a 100 unit by 100 unit box. So you asked for the ranges to be extended half a Teemo. That's pretty short. which is fine by me, because I feel the range is fine where it is. Her kunai have a longer range than Pantheon Q but more impact/utility. I feel like you're playing her wrong tbh because you want her to have range, but she isn't a ranged champion. She's a melee champ. Her abilities having the range they do is almost slightly ridiculous, and asking for them to be longer is completely ridiculous.

I disagree with you on the smoke, I think it's too effective. It lasts a very long time, stops tower aggro, stops abilities that are on the way to hitting her, makes her impossible to target or even just see, and it gives her more energy and a movement speed buff. Its slight spread "forcing her out of position" is a gripe that shows you just want an easy-win champion. Also, on the skillshot aspect of her W, again she is a melee champ. You are looking for ranged abilities on a melee champ.

Shouldn't be able to instagib people with her ult. The two second pause on the second dash gives the enemy a chance to attempt counterplay- unless you ult in, drop smoke, and then ult again.

I never noticed her being slow. She definitely seemed to be able to roam just fine.

Its slight spread "forcing her out of position" is a gripe that shows you just want an easy-win champion.

Quite the opposite! All of Akali's abilities center around the idea of having her shroud available, and because of that being the direction Riot took, I feel like it should be a stand-your-ground ability. To be honest, it grants too much safety, there are a lot of times when either I, or an enemy Akali, will be able to get away because she keeps the invisibility for a second or two after leaving the shroud (something that's stuck around from her pre-work.) Her shroud expanding slowly forces her out of position and in to a wall or just generally from where she wants to be, but the inverse of that is it gives her a lot more free movement away from a location and a much wider area of "where can she be". So it's a double-problem, putting more thought in to it.

I feel like you're playing her wrong tbh because you want her to have range, but she isn't a ranged champion. She's a melee champ.

Definitely agree on the latter half (and the first half but for different reasons). Though her abilities aren't melee, and they weren't in her previous kit either. She overall has a lot less range, and I find myself instinctively setting up a very specific distance and then trying to throw my Q, and having it land a minion's distance short. Or my E, I'll set it up to get someone from over a wall or to enable a chase, and it'll just bury at their feet. Of course, these are personal issues (I did stick "Personally" in the title!) and can be remedied with time.

what happened to waiting 2 weeks to complain, this is usually how champions become so buffed that they become 100% banned in ranked.

Håppy2 votes

Right, I forgot that giving any kind of feedback is bad, sorry.

elo trash4 votes

It's not that giving any feedback is bad, its just really to early for feedback as of now honestly. It takes time to learn a champion and all of there tricks. not just 24hrs.

First impressions don't matter, then? I'm not claiming this to be anything that it isn't. It's day one personal feelings about the champion, which includes negatives, positives, possible fixes for the negatives (One of the fixes is quality-of-life, the W becoming selfcast), and some criticism on my own play which gives tips for others.
