Where exactly does one play Teemo these days?

I know "Teemo being Satan" has literally become one of the legendary memes within the game itself; however, I was wondering where exactly does one who does want to play Teemo exactly play him these days?

Teemo's most preferred role is the top lane; however, his lack of defensive stats makes him looked down upon as a team player. It is generally said that Teemo's teamfighting skills are very weak to nonexistent; however, I feel that Riot has added the mushroom tossing feature to help him with team fights. When planted carefully, Teemo's shrooms can be very powerful in teamfights especially if the enemy team runs through a "minefield" of them at times.

However, my main concern is as to which lane one exactly takes Teemo at this point of time? Whether it be ranked or normals, I always find several players continuously blaming poor plays and losses upon myself just for choosing Teemo. However, what's the fault in choosing a character within the game? I find Teemo to be one of my personal favourite champions due to his very cute design and cheerful personality - in addition, I do own all the Teemo skins as I love the choices he has (especially his recent Omega Squad skin). I'd love to use Teemo more; however, seeing continuous harsh comments from other team members whenever I attempt to pick Teemo in the champion select can be extremely discouraging and even depressing at times.

He's a marksman/assassin hybrid character who has trouble fitting in the meta at this point of time. He doesn't function well as an adc due to his poor range and ability power scaling as opposed to physical damage while his assassin role is risky especially with the addition of sweeper lens that can easily disengage his bombs as well as discover Teemo when he is hidden in the bushes. Additionally, his stealth is easily broken as many champions possess a skill that can completely attack within the range of the bush that Teemo is hidden within and eventually kill him if he chooses to run out at the last minute for an escape.

TL; DR - Yes, I'm aware that Teemo isn't well liked in the game due to how "toxic" his kit can be; however, I absolutely love the little yordle and wish to play him without being harassed for the choice of choosing him. Is there any lane that's suitable for him outside of the top lane where he's considered a hindrance to the team due to his lack of tank-iness? If not, I was wondering if any Rioters have an interest in reworking Teemo someday so that he can find his very own place within the game as opposed to being the "joke" choice within the game.
