@Meddler Question about Control Wards and traps in lane?

Considering how cheap these new wards will be, doesn't this make Teemo and Jhin 's traps almost obsolete during the laning phase considering how cheap they are? Especially in regards to Teemo who had his shrooms both nerfed in damage and halved in timers ever since the mushroom bouncing change from last year.

With these wards, it pretty much makes Teemo's shrooms almost useless in lane aside from waveclear and even goes as far as disabling the shrooms as well. At least Oracles has a timer to it being used, but these wards are cheap enough to even get during the laning phase making Teemo even worse off than usual.

Yes, his shrooms are unhealthy for the game - but would he get any compensation for this? He's already considered a joke pick, and now his own ult could potentially become useless in the laning phase. He's already immobile enough to get caught in ganks, and if the jungler carries a few of these wards - Teemo becomes much too predictable especially since he can only place 3 shrooms at a time now before the cooldown resets.

I agree with every point above. While Teemo's shrooms may be unhealthy for the game, so is that ward for not only ridding a champion of his ult, his signature, the ONLY cc he has. Shrooms have had their duration cut in half, Ratio gutted, and to compensate for that we get stupid shroom toss?! Riot, there's a clear and obvious reason why AP teemo isn't viable anymore, care to take a guess?

teemo doesnt really need rework but with all the pre-season change, may as well re-design teemo. Teemo's Blind/Q is the only ability of his kit after pre-season change gone thru.

totally agree with everything said above! I just wanna know what riot's ideas about teemo are and if they plan do give him a propper rework or just anything... after the in my opinion really, really hard shroom nerf in combination with oracles lense and now an unbeliveable 50g shroom disabler, teemo mains out there at least deserve to know if there's any plan whatsoever. I really think Riot is making an awesome job at keeping lol a fun game and I like there willingness to chgange up stuff. But as a fierce teemo main, I would love to get some answers on what is going on here. thx <3

There is one thing people forget or don't know because they have never tested it. The control wards have a lower radius (~850 not sure about the actual range) compared to the pink wards (1100/1000). This is a decent nerf to the radius (~25%) and the area (~30-40%). So the lower area alone is enough to reduce the costs down to 50g (~35% less area it covers and so ~33% less gold costs).

But the limitation is still the same. The old pink could cover a lot for just 75g. The new one will be cheaper but due to the still existing limitation, you can't cover the same area. So the one side safes 25g for covering less but I am sure every player would spend that 25g for the increased range. So this is actually more of a buff to teemo and other trap users.

The only nerf that counters that buff is the trap deactivation, which is nice, but not too strong considering the small area.

So my cunclusion is that this is going to be a buff for trap users if they spread out their traps a bit more. And both teemo and Jhin are pretty strong and decently popular in ranked already anyways.

To be blunt this triggers all fuzzy feelings out of me. The ultimate was already lackluster in past seasons because of the low damage scaling, activation radius and the ubiquity of ward removal.

Teemos mushrooms have LONG since lost their use as a damaging ability and only serves as a glorified ward or early warning system for an otherwise obsolete kit. They are simply not functioning like they should. Even considering a full AP build do these mushrooms rarely ever work, especially with all those 'harmless' item builds nowadays.

Still dont believe me? All right, take a look at an Adc: lifesteal and Mercurial Scimitar what about support?: he ll propably have magic resistence, also Mikael's Crucible - which heal the damage and then something extra what about the usual AP mid laner?: Zhonya's Hourglass and the usual ad bruiser top?: well he ll build tanky anyway - so your mushrooms wont make a dent anyway which leaves the jungler which obviously has oracle alteration

But i can totally (not really) understand - that for some bronze and silver players - that these mushrooms pose a serious threat, which must be fixed at all cost. Yes .. this is fine.
