Lux feels oppressive in bot lane. Please don't hate me.

Hey, I did a quick search on Lux on both Reddit and the Gameplay section of the boards to see if any recent posts were made about Lux as a support, and from a cursory glance, I didn't see any.

From a purely kit standpoint, I feel like Lux is too oppressive in bot lane. Off the top of my head, the main hook/root/stun champions commonly played as supports that have reliable immobility CC are Morg, Blitz, Thresh, Leona, and Naut. As far as I can remember, most of these other champions can easily be minion blocked, making counterplay much easier. I'm not sure if Lux being an excellent support was a design goal or a side effect of her CC heavy kit, but I think that low cooldown ranged roots that can punch through minions along with slow bombs feel too strong in the arena of bot lane. I don't think Lux as a midlaner is particularly awful; she's certainly not a favorite matchup, but it's definitely a lot easier to play against only one champion vs in bot lane where CC is (I'd argue) more prized as an engagement setup.

Is this just my garbo skills talking or do I have a reasonable point? I think Lux is far too strong of a support (sorry, but a Taric vs a Lux in terms of CC and poke ability, is it even a comparison?). Is this even a valid position to take? And if so, how would she be tweaked without killing the very nature of her kit? I want to be clear that ideally, I'd tweak her rather than rework her kit entirely.

I prefer to get Lux support than getting Zyra or Brand. Something has to be done for them because they are way stronger than Lux is at support.

  • Her Q did half effect and dmg to second target, now 100% for both.
  • Her W shielded her ONCE, now TWICE.
  • Her R did not give CD Refund, nor burned the passive mark.

Buffs she got over the years, yet no one noticing. I dare say she is a Sleeper op.

I am a lux main... The only time i won with her was against truly bad players that don't predict nor dodge my Q.....

The only time i lost was with terrible adcs that simply stood still and farmed while being utterly destroyed by lux's cc

Lux is a noob stomper. Nothing more, nothing less.

She is oppressive in bot lane.

Personally, I have rarely lost lane vs Lux support, if ever. She is average, clearly not oppressive.

She needs items to do damage, her Q is strong, but avoidable, shield delay a big drawback. E poke is annoying; but managable.

Land a hook or a Leona combo after 6 and she dies.

Woah holy crap her WR sure snuck up. I haven't noticed her getting any stronger... It's very helpful to bring MR shards and/or Nullifying Orb against her. They nerfed my Ori's base MR a while back but with MR shards and Null Orb her combo still won't 100-0 me right through my shield. She's very Zyra in terms of CC and damage, but gets way less mana to spam with, and her only compensation for this is a rather crappy shield. As for her CC it stuns rather than roots, but also can't go through the whole wave. I'd take facing Lux support over Velkoz/Zyra/Brand/Nautilus any day. But then, that's just an Orianna support one trick's perspective. [slayer-jinx-catface]

Lux is oppressive. Shes downright overpowered. The Riven of bottom lane tbh.

She is disgustingly broken. Fight me xd

Yes lux is too strong. Not worse than brand zyra or xerath but too strong nonetheless. The issue imo is twofold, its their poke in lane phase combined with their reliable aoe in teamfights. You can easily win lane by poke attrition or with a good CC catch. Or you can just spam your skills in teamfights and so as much damage as carries if not more.

I'm not very amazing at the game (although I do think I have a good mind for game design and balance), but even I'm aware of keeping my space away from Lux and dodging roots (which isn't that hard, projectile speed isn't amazingly fast). My biggest problem with her is just that Lux has such strong CC that she can easily lock enemy ADCs out of farming effectively. It's much easier to farm when playing against other supports like Thresh and Morg, for example.

Most times the minion wave wont allow you to Q through one minion and not hit a 2nd.

Feel Apathy5/5/2019, 12:08:05 AM1 votes

Most of her damage's locked behind her passive.

As a support it's unreliable to get damage from it.

Shield is very strong however, as long as you manage to hit people.

I do like the variety bot lane to be honest, dislike seeing Thresh Morgana Nami in 95% of the games.

Hi, Lux main (among other things) here.

The best way to win against Lux is to dodge her Qs. I'm not kidding.

They come out very slowly, so if you see her start to cast a spell, prime yourself into "dodge mode".

Her poke on E is actually pretty low compared to some other champions played as support right now, as her E isn't the most consistent form of poke, and doesn't do too much damage. Lux faces mana problems early game if she relies solely on E to get spellthief gold.

The next best thing to do is to go any engage support. If Lux gets hit, she pops. Her rank 1 shield is still pretty small until it comes back, so bursty trading patterns will really chunk her <500 health bar.

She is weak support , not even close to be strong Therefore she can never oppressive But understandable

FireDrizzle5/4/2019, 10:27:26 AM1 votes

Lux is feast or famine compared too other mage supports, her bases are weak.

Sir Saltarin5/4/2019, 10:26:55 AM1 votes

I dont think so

FederationFurry5/4/2019, 10:06:29 AM1 votes

Play Swain... I usually destroy her with my combo. Lux players always move forward to use their Q, grab them first, pull them in and show them your opinion of "Meh Feminism" XD

You just need practice to be aware of how Lux players usually play and how she uses her abilities. You need to avoid her early game because the snare will kill you but you can usually see when Lux is going to use it. Sometimes its best to burn flash just to avoid it. Do that and she can't do much.

Believe me, I KNOW she's annoying but she's a "Whale Mage" (Why she has so many skins) which means she'll never get changed or nerfed and a woman designed her so she needs to be broken. But if you play smart... you can beat her, I believe in your abilities. :)

POTMLG6/1/2019, 7:58:05 PM1 votes

No one is talking because like 50% of all players are Elementalist Lux themselves. She has the most skins because she is the most played.

If you ban Lux , first pick on enemy team will be Morgana , and vice versa.

These champions do more damage, from greater range than any other champ botlane.
