I LOVE having my games held hostage by one fucking troll

PlebonicEbonic··39 votes·12,704 views

Yi leaves at 10 mins because he died to jg mob. not before he goes to each lane and gives them a kill advantage though

i ask at 15 minutes "can we surrender because it's a 4v5 and we're gonna end up losing hard"

Nasus denies surr i ask "wtf why are you denying the surr we're only gonna continue getting stomped" no response. next surrender vote gets denied by nasus too. suddenly im toxic for getting pissed that this guy is FORCING ME to play in a game WE ALL KNOW WE'RE GONNA GET STOMPED IN.

im fucking sick of this NA mentality where surrendering doesnt happen. its fucking stupid, and im tired of getting punished for basically deciding not to waste any more of my fucking time in a game thats a LOST CAUSE FROM 10 MINUTES IN

I've seen so many games where people insisted we had no chance. I voted no, and we ended up winning. You never win if you foreit. You are the troll. you are the problem in this story.

Survivorship bias much? Now tell me how many games you failed to turn around. I ll wait.

ForgetMeNotKeanu2 votes

Negativity Bias is just as bad in league.

Unstoppable Monk2 votes

You can't turn a game around if your teammates have no fundamental ability to do so while the enemy team has 3 hypercarries with 8 kills each.

SoulNibbler2 votes

How many would it need to be? You lose 100% of the games you forfeit. I'm not saying there is never a time to forfeit, but if someone on your team thinks there is a chance, then play on. You signed in to play the game, so just play it instead of whining.

Eleshakai14 votes

I enjoy playing the game, even in adverse conditions. Even when I don't have a chance to win.

When I opt into playing League, I do so with the expectation that once I push that queue button, I am playing start to finish, and that I will use that time to the best of my ability to improve as a player, to learn more about the game, and to have fun.

As a disadvantaged game does not impact my ability to improve as a player, my ability to learn more about the game, or my ability to have fun.... there is no reason for me to ever surrender. And thus I don't.

It is not me trolling. To some degree, by my mentality, when other people surrender it is borderline trolling, since you're denying me the ability to use the time to get better. But.. I don't call people on it because it is a mechanic included in the game that has a vote attached. If the vote goes through, then I will not complain about that.

But as it is a vote, I have my right to vote however makes the most sense to me given my mentality and goals. And my choice of vote is not trolling, regardless of whether I vote the same way you'd vote.

Mast3rShake3 votes

for the majority of people it actually isnt fun playing a game where the other team is 17/2. there is also little to nothing to learn. you’re team will have no vision and even if you play a fight correctly you will just lose to their massive item advantage. you’ll most likely get more practice in the next game as long as it isnt another massive 4v5 stomp against you.

you and the others who wouldnt surrender in this situation need to learn what “opportunity cost” means

Yeah, someone voting no on a vote is totally being a troll.

PlebonicEbonic17 votes

look, if a game is pretty close to even, then fine don't vote.

but if it's a horrific shitstomp where your team is down 20+ kills in the first 20 minutes, the people voting no at that point are doing it to spite everyone else. so YES ITS TROLLING. not to mention if its a 4v5 and someone is STILL denying the surrender.

Pika Fox7 votes

Yeah, no. Its even more hilarious when someone types /ff every time they get the chance, and it goes from 3/2 to 1/4 as everyone that already voted yes before get more annoyed at the guy typing /ff than they are with the game.

PlebonicEbonic10 votes

how is what you described not trolling? voting no to spite someone is TROLLING. I forgot this is NA where surrendering is a bad thing, even if it means sitting in a game for 20 extra minutes, and enemy team doesn't want to end because they're padding their kda.

Pika Fox6 votes

Its not trolling; theyre still trying to win, and are willing to play out the match and have to deal with it same as you.

PlebonicEbonic6 votes

no, it's trolling. when their laner is 7/2, we have a jg who quits, and everyone else is getting shitstomped due to lanes roaming, denying the surrender is trolling. NA players are so dumb i swear. "NEVER SURRENDER BRO WE CAN STILL WIN YOU JUST GOTTA BE STRESSED ABOUT GETTING STOMPEDFOR 40 MINS AND HOPE THEY FUCK UP BIGTIME"

We were down 14 kills to 1 by 15 minutes. so seriously, shut the fuck up and stop talking about a situation like you were there

Pika Fox3 votes

Yeah, and ive been 0/10 and still carried. Unless youre playing diamond elo games, shit dont matter. Theres only 6 item slots in the game, and at that point gold no longer matters.

PlebonicEbonic5 votes

yeah well, nobody on my team INCLUDING me is good enough to manufacture a comeback like that. especially me being in the supp position.

Quiet Dude6 votes

Its this mindset right here that causes you to fail.

You mentioned an NA mentality to never surrender. NA wont give up. We never gave up. Well, except when it comes to hiring and paying teachers. We gave up there.

PlebonicEbonic7 votes

no, what causes me to fail is getting gibbed instantly before i can react by a 7/2 setting up camp at bot.

It does matter, actually. You can either back off to safety, or, if you have damage, it doesnt matter how fed LB is, CC is still CC, and a thresh hook or leona eqr + a lucian/draves LB can be 50/0, shes still dead. And thats 1k gold.

Yes, this combined with everyone else on the team voting yes makes it a bit of a troll to not surrender.

Being down 10 kills is survivable depending on if all those 10 kills are on the same player because then the gold gained from them is actually pretty heavily reduced (It's something like 300 -> 275 -> 225 -> 175 for the kill and at 8th consecutive death is 50g).

Mizaya7 votes

NA has one of the highest surrender rates though. Behind KR primarily as far as major regions go

The EU servers are both lower. NA has a lot of problems but the whole surrendering thing isn't really one of them. If anything it's really a rather high amount of players who tilt really easily.

You can alway quit like Yi if you don't feel playing anymore, and bare the consequence alone. No need to rant, be toxic, or insult other people's decision in game or in a public forum post. He is entitled to his game time as much as you are. Maybe that is the only game he gets that day so naturally he would like to play more. If it's ranked more reason to not quit because as long as you don't you may just win.

I see no problem in Nasus's decision to vote no, it is his Right. I do see a problem in your childish behaviour and immaturity in handling objections. Learn to handle disagreement better perhaps.

^ This.

If its a waste of time to wait 5 more minutes so that your surrender vote can go through then I don't think you should be playing the game in the first place.

A few hours ago i played a game where our jungle hecarim left at about 3 mins, after diving lvl 3 and dying to the enemy mid. The game was a stomp like none other. We were picked off wherever we went outside our base. We lost all inhibitors and both nexus turrets before 25mins. Still we managed to defend for a long time until we managed to start going even on team fights. After that, we started winning them. And we managed to push all the way to the enemy team's base, at least the rest of my time since i was stuck in our base defending clearing wave after wave and fending off any struggler trying to bd. We managed to win at around 45 mins. And we were without any turrets whatsoever for around 15-20 mins. And this is not the only game ive managed to win 4vs5. Ive even managed to win 3vs5 game.

It sucks pretty hard playing 4vs5 or falling way far behind but, from what ive seen all those years i play, no game is unwinable. Its just that some are far more difficult to win than others.

Mast3rShake4 votes

the other 20 times it happened to you ended in a loss. that means not surrendering at 15 cost you 600 minutes (10 hours) just so you could win that one time. good choice! enjoy the next 10 hours of getting stomped so you can get that one i never surrender win

  1. "It saves more time"

Actually, it saves more time to win now.

  1. "Wanting to play the game while behind is negative and toxic"

Actually, every single game has someone at an advantage, and while that team commonly wins, first tower only yields 70%~ victory. 30% of the time, you will lose first tower, and be the behind team, and statistically you will pull through 1/3 times you try even though you lost the early lead. Not only is there evidence surrender= lower winrate, there is direct evidence by how about how much. It's pretty enjoyable reading the "how often do you win from behind!!! s//s/s/s/s/s!!!!!" quips, because not just that individual, but most of us, win from behind, 3 of every 10 games you play without even being the person pushing for the win in that moment.

In a nutshell, people that want to ff/go next are bad players that normally have the least control over the game, and are carried to their ranks, this is why they see time spent = rank, and not nexuses collected = rank. Anyone interested in the speed that they win is boosted, people that know how to win most games carefully and casually take their time doing it.

In no universe is a pro player surrendering winnable games, so that he can 'win the next 2 faster'. That's a poor quality meme.

I can't even count how many times I've won games my no vote was the deciding factor in if we won or lost. It's enormous, and anyone with a 70-90% winrate obviously appreciates winning these types of games too. The only people that FF, are people that shouldn't have started the match.

Interestingly, I find the 'I have all the time in the world to play' people tend to surrender more. Because they don't have time limits. It's the people who have time limits that want to make the most of the time they have... because they are far more likely to NOT have time for another game if a surrender happens.

surrendering is not 'making the most of your time' it's an arrogant assumption that winning the next game is granted, so quitting this one is beneficial. But what really happens 7/10 times is the person that FF loses the second game too.

Winning the single game you played is the most efficient use of your time. Less games played.

its not about winning the next game. its about getting into a new game where there's not an afk ruining it, and everyone's not getting shit stomped with absolutely no resistance.

The best is when Bronze players are capable enough to know what open means, but not how to play the game.

Maybe they suck at lategame, because they have never attempted to play it.

Is somebody on the team thinks the game is even remotely winnable you should play it out to then end. Opening because you think the game isn't winnable is the same as afking or walking it down mid. When you are intentionally losing the team the game because you think it's over you are the troll. It doesn't matter the circumstances if somebody wants to play it out then you as a teammate should play it out.

In a 3v3 match where one player on your team is purposely giving kills to the enemy team and refuses to surrender for the purpose of making you suffer is a completely valid reason for you and your other teammate to agree to just let the opposition end the game because it very clearly is not going to go anywhere. I am not a troll for asking my non troll teammate if he would like to just be free from the game rather than putting up with such nonsense.

I appreciate the downvote for me and my team not giving our time to a (Somehow not banned despite multiple offenses)goof like that though. [zombie-brand-clap]

Nope. The one who "held us hostage" was deliberately doing it to waste our time and the other player who kept voting yes also wanted out and went with it.

ØrnnToGetTrolleÐ3 votes

It's not just NA mentality. Surrender is not a known concept in EUNE/EUW either.

If people vote no, it never means they want to continue to try. They vote no because they like keeping you hostage. They like wasting everyone's time. They refuse to play the game but they also refuse to surrender. That's griefing ffs. In some cases they vote no cuz they want to flame their teammates a little longer.

I've said this before. If you are the only one in your team who has legit tried to win you might still get flamed and reported for "giving up" by 4 trolls and griefers.
