Future "Your Shops" could use Bad Luck Protection (+ More Feedback)

_Quick disclaimer: This is not a post asking for handouts or a reroll. I'm very satisfied with the free content we get through crafting. _

I want to provide 2 very specific points of feedback to Riot that I believe should be part of future "Your Shops", based on my personal experience this last year.

  1. The skins I got offered this snowdown have all appeared in the last couple shops. In fact, I got a dejavu because I'm pretty sure one of the past shops was almost identical to this one, skin-wise. Now, it can be possible that "I didn't have RP before, but now I have", but as a general rule, if people didn't get the skins back then, it's safe to assume they weren't that interested in them, and different skins should be offered. I didn't get Order of the Lotus Karma in the last shop when it was 70%, probably doesn't make much sense to offer it again for 30%.

  2. The percentages. Liking the particular skins you get or not, will always be a matter of taste, but the discount amount is something that is objectively better or worse. As you can see, this time I didn't get any skin above 50% discount, and 4 of them were below that. I think the unpredictability of being able to get very good deals is exciting, but I also believe there should be some kind of bad luck protection similar to the recently implemented in chests. For example: my discounts add up to "230%" total. My friend's deals were 310%, being three of them 70% ones. I think the bottom threshold could be higher, or at least make it so you get one or two guaranteed deals above 50%. I think part of what makes the personalized shop special is the chance to get a better deal than the regular 50% sales one, that is only for you, and I think everyone should have that.

Another reason to repeat skin offers: your opinion about a skin can change. I never liked Program Camille in the past and didn't take the offer back then. But now I think that I would like it and were happy to get that offer again (but we still need another Camille skin...).

So just saying, repeating an offer when some time passed instead of completely avoiding that skin in the future could be beneficial.

Besides that, I like your ideas.

Thanks for your comments! Yes, I agree that the opinion can change in the future, but I also believe that generally people know that the deals are limited and think ahead just in case. Perhaps they can be included in one of the next shops but not the very following one like you said. Or as another person said, make them appear again if the discount is higher (the opposite situation I had, from 70% to 30% hehe). Ty again ; )

You can cheat a bit the system since it's based on your recently play champs (Bonus if you have a high mastery on them). It might have some other variables but the most important one seems to be the recent played champs.

I don't really know about the percentage. I thought for older "Your Shops" it was always at least one 30, one 50, one 70. But I guess i was just lucky to get 70 everytime (even tho it was mostly on unwanted skins..)

I'm actually happy with the champions that I got the skin deals for! The problem is that the specific skin deals are the same ones I got offered before, and with even smaller discounts. Glad you were luckier than me though!

I think it should be more averaged out in general. Like I got two 60% off, two 50% off, one 70% off, and one 30% off. I got super lucky but I feel like that sucks if it's sorta because others get super unlucky.

I've given feedback on the shops every time but unfortunately it seems to have been noted and ignored.

I hope you'll have more luck, upvoted.

(My feedback was to allow the person to check a box like "Don't show me this skin ever again", and/or "I'm not interested in current skins for this champ")

They could just give you a guaranteed % overall.

I.e you're guaranteed 320% in discounts over all of your skins.

That way you're at least getting a lot of skins at half price or a couple at 70% of etc.

Agree but the return of the same skin should be offered only if the discount is bigger than the past times. For example I got Panda Annie at 30% once and I didn't bother. Then it returned at 70% and I instantly bought it because while not being one of my favorite skins it's nice enough that I wanted it at that price. Anyway for what I am seeing in my own shops the RNG is pretty great: I ALWAYS got skins for champions I play and after the 2 first shops I even got stuff really"on my style" (for example last shop gave me pool party Lulu and I bought it, this one gave me pool party MF, which I don't play that much, but it's likely the system associated me with the skin line)

That first thing you mentioned is a fair point, makes sense.

I also think the RNG is pretty fair apart from the points I talked about.

Lol wait a second, why would not everyone have the same amount of % off ? That's extremely dumb and unfair. That being said, I had an excellent shop and bought everything. I would have been disappointed if mine looked anything like yours. Or even with good skins but 30% discounts. I'm gonna need 50% or more to feel like it was worth it for a once a year thing.

What you suggest is the most fair thing of course! But you could also suggest that all the chests drop the same for everyone and it's already established what quality of skins they'll drop. That would make it a bit less interesting/exciting in my opinion.

Like I said, I guess it's always more fun knowing you can get not just good deals, but "very good" ones, adding some unpredictability and mystery to it. But definitely set a better minimum.

I also agree that below 50% it doesn't feel very especial generally since it's a unique thing. Well I'm glad yours was excellent like you said! Thanks for the comment,

I agree with the % thing. I find it really odd that some people will get a lot of 30, 40 and 50% off while other people get several 60 and 70% skins. I got 3 60% off skins and one 50%, one 40% and only one 30%. So clearly mine isn't bad, but it's still unfair for those who get a bunch of 30% sales.

Yes, I think it's a good feeling when you had better deals than average! But like I said, the minimum possible should be a little higher, or at least a couple discounts above 50%. Glad you liked yours though, thanks for the comment.

I agree with all your points (especially the numbers. i didnt get 1 70% off this time around).

At least this time the shop got my champions played right, almost. (even if it has a Maokai skin in it, and ive played exactly 2 Maokai games in my last like 75~ games).

Of course, there is also a fucking Graves skin in my shop.

I havent played a single game as Graves since he got reworked, so idk where that came from.

Haha, yeah I also got the Janna skin offered even though I never play her. I guess they assumed I'd want it since I play supports often and most people like Janna. Thanks for the comment though, glad your shop was decent at least!

Haha, well, it certainly isn't that bad, but yeah at least one above 50% would be nice since that is the whole reason why I love your shop :') Hmm, the problem I had with this shop is that it offered me an Ashe skin, even though I have her legendary and her championship skin. Same for Jinx, have her legendary and winter skin. I don't have a skin for Vayne and Sion, but the skins I have got for both are only 520 and 750RP skins...

Well anyway, maybe I'll have more luck next time [galio-happy]

Since it's called "Your Snowdown Shop", there should have been at least 2 skins guaranteed to be a Snowdown ones. I was lucky to get Poro Rider Sejuani but the rest were 520 and 975 RP skins....

About point 2, I don't think using % as a tool to check how you do vs other poeple is the right way to go as skin price you get also impact a lot.

For exemple, I used my shop (total 290%) and the amounth of rp I can spare if I buy all is 2335 rp (2x 1350 skin 50%, 1x 975 skin 30%, 1x 750 skin 60%, 1x 520 skin 40% and 1x 390 skin 60%) For yours (230%) you can spare 2551 rp

So, even with lower total% than me, for a case where you buy all, your shop is better than mine so you had more "luck"

Rp reduction isn't around 2k5 for everyone as it highly depend on what you already have in your collection (quickly did the moobeat one and it was way higher than us due to him having all minor skin I guess), so I think there is already a bad luck protection in place so that player, at least, get a total of 2k promo all skin combined

There are 390 skins? I was sure 520 was the minimum. Are you sure you didn't tell me the discounted price? (Edit: apparently it's true)

In any case, that's an interesting point. However, a major point is that for 4 out of my 6 deals, the regular 50% sale is actually better, and for the other 2 is simply the same. Perhaps instead of simply comparing the % players, at least make it so there's one or two skins above 50%, so it feels more special than the regular sale.

no no, 390 rp skin exist, it's just that only 3 are in the game (assassin master yi, golden alistar and white mage veigar)

Yeah.. I feel like you should always get a 60/70% off skin ...

Another idea I had was... you go to your shop, you see a SWEET deal, for a skin you don't want, but you think your friend will enjoy. I'd like to consume that deal on a GIFT...... maybe someday.

Yes. I couple of years ago or so, I suggested that we get at least one re-roll. It just doesn't make any sense for Riot or the consumer if the consumer is not interested in any of the offers.

Personally, i don't like how it 100% picks skins on champions you play frequently. Literally every skin offered was for a champion that i have a superior skin on and i hate having multiple skins on a single champion as i single out the best skin and only use that. Only Chromas i switch around.

280K Mastery points on Brand, next highest is 130K on Karma, and this is the first shop I've been offered a discount skin for Brand. The rest are for Sona, Soraka, Karma, Nami, and Lulu. I do play those champions, but not nearly as much a Brand.

I got skins for champs i play, but i already own skins for them and it most cases like mine more(or enough not to warrant another skin).

SKT jhin was the one skin for a champ i considered because i dont have a skin on him... but i dont care for the skin or skt.

I kinda want riot to make like half of the skins in sale shop, skins of champions that you don't own, or that you don't own a lot of skins for already. They made it so that your shop is your most played or favourite champions, but I already have many skins for the champions that I play.

For example, I main support, so I play Sona, Janna, Lulu, etc. I already own DJ Sona, SG Janna, SG Lulu and like 3 other skins for those champions as well. In my skin shop, guess what! I got skins for Sona, Janna, and Lulu. All skins that don't really interest me (except for the Sona, as I kinda want to collect all of them)
