Håppy1 votesSeason 6 worked fine. Like, absolutely fine. There was a fill option for people who didn't care, and there was a primary and secondary role for those who did. You put the role you wanted most as primary, and your fallback as your secondary. Season 7, you have two roles that don't take priority over one another, and then autofill takes priority over both of them, so you really shouldn't even be picking any roles, just queueing up for autofill with this system.
Ideas and solutions to autofill have been given ever since the preseason started, and were full on ignored. So now it's just reminding Riot that this system is a cancer and makes people miserable.

We should go back to season 1-4 where there was no role selection and you have to beg to not get support and not be held hostage for taking someone's role from them even though you were 1p and they were 5p?! In general everyone is having a much better time now than before, you're the minority.

You are lying. People get autofilled to every position and 'fill' now actually ends up placing people in a lot of different positions instead of just 'support' more than 90% of the time, yet people will still end up playing one of their main positions most of the time while queue times are kept low.

Season 5 was better than season 7.
Back then people would actually work together to fill out the team comp. Not every game sure, some games you would have to work with them, but enough for you to get your role the majority (>50%) of the time if you mained something.

DrCyanide1 votesIt depends. If your business can't sustain selling $0.50 hamburgers then you've got to change, regardless of if your customers don't like it.
The new champion select drastically chunked out the people willing to put "fill" or "support" as a backup role. If you go into Blind Pick you'll still see people who will go Support as their second role, but that population has all but disappeared from Draft. To sustain the business, the call was made to make a mandatory fill kick in.
