Am I the only one confused as to why people buy all three Lethality items?

item 3147 item 3814 item 3142 all have lethality but they're all on a unique passive so they shouldn't stack.

Do they stack? if so why is it a unique pas then. If not, won't it be too gold ineffecient or are the actives too powerful that it bypasses the redundancies of the unused lethality? Or is it the runes and masteries giving most of a person's lethality that's the problem? Or is it the clickbait youtube vids saying '100+ lethality broken' that makes people think that it stacks, even when mathematically that shouldn't be possible?

Unique unnamed passives don't stack between with multiples of the same item but they do stack between different items.

item 3134 + item 3134 = 10 Lethality item 3142+ item 3142 = 20 Lethality item 3134 + item 3142 = 30 Lethality

This is the same of CDR (i.e. Kindlegem, Glacial Shroud, Fiendish Codex).

Oh thank you for the clarification. This makes a lot of sense. Maybe riot should make lethality a named unique so that you actually have to make a choice in the 3 items.

Then it would suxx x)

could buff the lethality numbers then.

Or just remove from night's edge, it's supposed to be a defensive item after all a bit like MAW

Having a one-stop-shop for all your lethality would be dangerous. You'd have to bump the value up on that one item significantly. Finishing that one item would be a huge bump in power, where today you have to buy 3 items to maximize your lethality stat.

On top of that, you'd be able to then buy other items that aren't just for lethality. It would open up AD casters to pick up super high AD items like bloodthirster and death's dance, so not only would they have even higher AD than now, they would also have tons of sustain through their lifesteal. Then ranged champs could grab their one lethality item and put attack speed and crit/IE on top of it. Yikes.

There are already some threads explaining this :

UNIQUE PASSIVE WITH A NAME (exemple : item 3100 item 3025 Unique passive Spellblade : description) Do not stacks.

UNIQUE PASSIVE WITH NO NAME : exemple :item 3158 item 3108 (unique passive : 10% CDR)) Do stacks IF AND ONLY IF the names of the items are differents.

So : item 3814 item 3814 do not stack. but : item 3147 item 3814 stack

Masteries were giving a big chunk of lethality early, I'm interested to see how things end up after they nerfed that.

Unique Passives without name only apply to the same item.

So it would only not stack if you buy the same item twice, like item 3147 item 3147.

They do however stack when you buy different items.

Only Unique Passives that have a Name won't stack if you buy another item that has the same Unique Passive with the same name. (like Unique Passive - Enhanched Movement that is on all Boots item 1001)

I actually would like lethality to not stack, so someone building all 3 items would only get 20 Lethality total

LostFr0st1 votes

20 lethality would literally be useless after about 15 minutes in-game due to passive armor/lvl.

20 lethality would literally be useless after about 15 minutes in-game due to passive armor/lvl.

but full Lethality with bruisers (BS, LW) just shreds armor like nothing. They need to put a max on armor shred (like 30% max or something)

That's a problem with the way it stacks with the % pen items (and the smooth buildpath of item 3071 ) not lethality itself.
