Defensive tree 4% damage reduction.

How about we make it so it reduces ALL damage. That includes true damage. That would allow tanks a little extra buffer to survive against executes and dare I say it, Vayne. It wouldn't be much but it would reduce 40 damage from every 1000 that tanks take from vayne, or Darius/Garen or the likes. It could also be the "unique" thing that tanks get.

Also, can we get a clarification of how taking an allies damage works? Is it true damage, physical damage, magic damage? How exactly does it work?

im sure you take the damage instead of your allie. simple as that. im sure its as if they targeted you instead.

The whole point of true damage is that it can't be mitigated by anything. That's why it's called 'true' damage.

erm...

no.

That is the entire point of "True damage".

It cannot be mitigated.

If you start adding mechanics that mitigate THAT, then some champion is going to end up with "Pure damage" somewhere down the line (what the obelisk deals), which ignores armor, magic resist, shields, certain invulnerability spells, and revivals.

I'm asking for a Rioter because they are the only one that can explain it. Just like how Tiamat used to deal "true" damage to the secondary target back in season 1-2.

True damage is designed so that nothing increases or decreases it. Stuff can negate it (e.g. Kayle ult) or absorb its damage (e.g. Janna shield). If it's dealing damage though it'll always deal the listed number, not being reduced by defensive effects like Alistar ult or that mastery, not being increased by damage amps like Vlad ult or Expose Weakness.

But the true question is if it does reduce damage of you allies then do you absorb a portion of the true damage? That's my real concern I guess.

Pretty sure it functions like Alistar ult. Which means it does reduce true damage.

ali's ulti doesn't reduce true damage.

Ralanr1 votes

It doesn't? I thought it reduced all incoming damage by 70%?

Unuldor1 votes

I main Alistar , His Ult only reduces physical and magical damage by 70%, True damage still applies, hence why Vayne is one of his greatest weaknesses

Ralanr2 votes

Huh...that's BS. His ult should reduce true damage since it's damage reduction, not damage resistance.

Bârd4 votes

No. It should NOT reduce true damage.

That is the entire point of the mechanic

TRUE DAMAGE CANNOT BE REDUCED BY ANY MEANS

Ralanr2 votes

Normally I agree. I think it should bypass all resistances. But bypassing reduction seems odd.

Bârd2 votes

You realize what resistances are, right?

They are stats that each provide a % reduction to either physical or magic damage, based on the total armor/magic resist you have.

True damage is not "100% armor/magic pen", it simply not effected by damage reduction, whether from resistances or champion spells. True damage ignores all mitigation besides outright invulnerability.

I misunderstood true damage. My apologies.

Tanks dont make for lcs big plays though. We need champions to be able to right click and hear the crowd go crazy for "PENTAKILLLLLLLL"

Does it grant assists just for being near people and giving them the benefits of it? If so, tank sups are potentially going to get a slight gold buff from it.
