It's funny because we actually don't even have 6 bans

I wouldn't be so salty but as it stands you HAVE To ban certain champs.

You HAVE to ban certain champs this meta. Remember ryze pre-rework? You had to pray to god someone good didnt pick him on the enemy team. You had to pray someone good didnt pick azir.

Thats how it is right now, there are must bans.

I still see 6 available bans.

I completely disagree with your point. Bans are localized and every game is different. Learn your counters, learn who you can't win against, and ban those champions.

Frankly, there are absolutely no must-bans. You can build a team to deal with the likes of Yasuo or Vayne.

**If you find yourself always losing because of this 'one champ' and its really bothering you? Learn to play better. I promise you, there isn't a single champion in the game that just automatically wins. **

I also completely disagree with your point.

You obviously did not fight a skilled azir or ryze before the hard nerfs/rework. Those champs impacted the game in such a level that required immediate bans.

Here we see the Post-Season-3 League of Legends player, unexposed to the perils of Kassadin. Let's observe.

God damn those were the days. Nearly 100% pick/ban kassadin. If he was unbanned and I was near the top I'd instalock him just to prevent the enemy team from instalocking him.

And if he wasn't banned he was instant locked even by people who never played him before. Such dark times.

and they would still do decent/good because his kit was so busted it enabled the worst of the worst

unexposed to the perils of Kassadin

Season 3 player here. Kassadin was banned in so many games, I got to play against him maybe 3 times. Aaaaaand because nearly nobody got to play Kassadin, they all sucked and were completely useless. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There are must bans.

Season 3 Kassadin is the biggest example. It's been a long time but I think he had up to almost 90% ban rate. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Then there was release Xin I think in season 2. Probably more examples.

The only must bans from recent seasons that comes to mind right now was release Azir and Taliyah in HIGH ELO. It's rare too see them do well at low elo.

This is a rage thread. Logic doesn't apply here.

AMYS GRAVE5 votes

Well by that logic we won't have 10 bans either....

Supreme Senpai691 votes

But it's easier / more likely to happen that the bans are increased, rather than it is to balance every champion. By increasing the bans the same OP champs will be banned, but we'll actually be able to ban our counters. First pick won't always lose lane anymore. I can ban Blitzcrank because I hate him instead of having to ban something my team will feed against. It's the same desired effect, just easier and more likely to happen this way

Bloodhawk953 votes

Well if you look at pro games, theres always a number of champions that make the 80% ban rate, because pros simply dont want to play against certain champions because they know they are bullshit

Blakiepug3 votes

Bans should be a preference, not a necessity.

Marshbouy2 votes

Except for ridiculous cases where a champion was so busted that there was nothing you could do, you still have 6 bans. You can build a team around destroying certain champions, you can counter them through team play and strategy, you can counter them a in a multitude of ways but most people choose not to and just ban off of personal preference.

ThePartyLeader2 votes

And you don't even really get to pick your champion. You have to pray to God you don't choose Janna jungle or you pretty much straight lose.

O wait....

TheStevenWu1 votes

I don't even know who the must-bans are today. I just ban aatrox because he's first on the list and don't really pay attention to ban phase.

RocketRelm1 votes

IIRC, some good generic bans are… Hecarim Caitlyn Camille

Elewd1 votes

and if you really wann go for some really out there bans but are REALLy good bans because good god. Jhin Katarina LeeSin Vayne

You are completely fucking over your team because Aatrox is one of the worst champions in the whole game.

That's a bit of an over exaggeration. Bans don't mean that much, even if it's by far not an optimal ban.

Not banning a champion does not "fuck over your team". If someone picks a popular champion, counter it. If you don't want to counter it, play it yourself. There are no champions in league that "fucks everyone over" because it's not banned or picked. I don't know... maybe in bronze it's different.

Watch pro games. they don't ban "OP" champions. They ban champions their opponents are good at. In solo queue, you don't know what your opponents are good at, therefore there's no real need for specific bans.

Supreme Senpai692 votes

You want to ban the champions with a high play rate. If you ban a champion the enemy team wasn't going to play, you wasted the ban. this can be hard because you aren't psychic and don't know what they will pick. Good options are Thresh, Yasuo, Lee Sin, and Caitlyn. They all have a semi-high skill ceiling and have a very high playrate, and can be really OP in the right hands. Better to just not face them.

Rakvir1 votes

I normally banned things that I saw a lot of people abusing to the nine hills and then began playing most of them for a good enough of time to understand how they worked and WHY they worked out well.

...started banning Yi again because goddamn Alpha Strike untargetability once he gets rolling. :P

Gregor Gysi1 votes

What do you think bans are for in soloQ? Strategy? Lol, there are no strategic bans seeing how there is no pick strategy. Banning your counters shouldn't be possible anyways so why do you really need so many bans? As it is right now we only have 1 must ban (Camille) and everything else is kind of close in terms of power level.

I still remember season 4,when Faker picked ryze in the last game and went 100,000/-0100 on anyone who crossed his path. even his teammates didnt expect him to go that crazy.

HazyCloud71 votes

There are always must bans tbh

Meeting Shyvana in bronze/silver is auto loss. Same with a couple of other champs.

I'm sorry but there should be no bans ranked mode. I hate sitting through a bunch of rounds of bans just to have someone fail to pick/failed to ban and having to find another game. Makes me play ARAM instead.

pre rework ryze? Ryze got re worked? i only remember him getting buffed in odd ways twice
