Galio just got nerf'd

The changes to Galio reward full channelled ulti's but punish failures. I am actually fine with that, I think it's great, the nerf I am talking about is to the defence materies. Galio can get an extra 5 or more AP from the old masteries, that scale up with the game, and took less damage while using ulti or if enemy hit by Q. Now, all the masteries he benefited from have been pushed so far down that he barely gets anything at all unless sacrificing a lot from the offensive tree. His early and late game power just took a huge indirect hit. As far as the AP tanks go (Zac Chogath Nunu Galio ) not including a few odd ones like bLitz and so on. Galio is the only one in the set that suffers from the new changes. He probably had the best hybrid build of the 4 of them, with nunu leaning more towards damage and Cho more towards tank (or pure damage). His new buff seems like it was added because of the indirect nerf, or without taking it into consideration. What's the general opinion on this? I personally think that if these masteries are here to stay, galio needs some base stat buffs to compensate, otherwise he has lost more power than gained with latest update

They are being careful with him because if he becomes to strong he becomes oppressive in lane against any AP because he can go full MR and still have the damage they have to an extent. If they buff his base stats (early game) it might help him get out of the hard early game he has being a melee. I think we should give it some time and see if this ult buff changes anything.

i think you have wrong actually and number also tells so

What masteries are you talking about? The %bonus defense ones?

In order to get 5 AP from building MR, you need 10 MR. In order to get that 10 MR from a +5% bonus MR mastery, you needed to build 200 MR. At the point in the game when that was possible, 5 AP meant jack.

I don't know what the recent changes will do to him but I think he's fine for now. He doesn't suit everybody's play style but if you know how to conserve mana, he's a very strong anti-AP pick and an average tank support. My experience with him recently has been nothing but good. I've won 13 of the last 15 games I've played with him.

I'd say Galio at this point needs the kind of change that Maokai received. He has the potential for massive power and huge plays, but is so unreliable and outdated that his power is far less significant than the numbers would make you believe.
