Why does Smite ignores Silence?

As a Soraka player, it feels real shitty to be able to land a skillful AoE silence in the Dragon pit as the enemy Lee Sin dashes in for the Smite-steal, but the Smite still went through regardless for some reason.

Flash gets silenced, so why can't Smite does?

The only CC that stops non movement summoners is suppression and stasis. Smite, ghost, barrier, ignite, heal, etc all can be used even while stunned. This is also why you can't cleanse those two

skillful AoE silence

kekw

because it wouldn't make a lot of sense for silence to prevent you from using shit that stuns, fears, charms and taunts don't

silence is too strong as it is, I waiting for the day they rework garen and remove his silence for example, anyway smite does true damage, nothing stops true damage, if you want a logical explanation.

Yeah i've landed plenty of Orianna Command:Shockwaves on enemy junglers that they smited right through anyway. Even knockup won't prevent it.

Personally i think if you cant even use items while silenced (which is fucked to me because they are items and not spells) but are able to do a certain few sum spells but not others, that is unfair as hell and needs to be checked

Secretly Smite doesn't get Silenced because it's actually the Summoner literally just reaching out of the champion and bopping the Dragon on the nose. [sg-ezreal]

Considering there's only like 5 or 6 champions with silence, I'd say it would be fair for it to also disable all summoners spells. But league is about "fun" first, and "fair" third or fifth... Not to mention soraka's silence only applies it once every 0.25 seconds, so potentially lee could've used smite even if silence disabled summoners spells too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsenUkkf-DM&feature=youtu.be

I'm going to throw it out there that the "skillful AoE silence" would have been one that stopped him from dashing into the pit in the first place.

Summoner spells are not prevented by CC, unless that CC is a suppression or the Summoner is summoner 4 / summoner 12

Smite ignores all CC even though it shouldn't.

Does it really ignore silence? I think Soraka's E is coded to apply silence initially and then in ticks so a champion that dashes into the area or comes out of Stasis or Teleport still has a very small window to cast before silence is applied, at least sometimes. So the Lee just got lucky. This is actually a known issue for Soraka players.
