player, it feels real shitty to be able to land a skillful AoE silence in the Dragon pit as the enemy Lee Sin dashes in for the Smite-steal, but the Smite still went through regardless for some reason.
Flash gets silenced, so why can't Smite does?

Eedat8 votesThe only CC that stops non movement summoners is suppression and stasis. Smite, ghost, barrier, ignite, heal, etc all can be used even while stunned. This is also why you can't cleanse those two

But it would also make sense for it to be silenced.
True damage should be something unhindered by damage resistance. But the actual ability to cast it is a different story.

If smite could not be used then it would not be dealing damage in the first place. You can't cast olaf E while silenced, for instance, even if it does true damage.
But silence as a rule doesn't stop most summoners. You can still heal, barrier, etc while silenced and stunned and so smite follows that rule.

So the Lee just got lucky. This is actually a known issue for Soraka players.

But league is about "fun" first, and "fair" third or fifth... This is one of the most frustrating parts of playing Soraka since the rework. Same thing happens if you press E under a ward being teleported on or under someone using Zhonyas.
