What is being done to fix the ranked system
Disclaimer- i am not saying its impossible to rank up, that elo hell exist, or that the game is imbalanced.
I feel that the competitiveness of ranking up in solo que is unfair to those who put in time, skill, and cooperation. For example, you play what the meta is and you play it well, you try your hardest to win, you ward, cheer up the team, but then you get that ad teemo jungle on your team that has no clue what hes building, hes not cooperating or even talking, and then continues to die over and over in the enemies jungle. The point i am making is that we always get those types of players that just dont care as much, sit on the pad( but dont go afk) or people that rage at you for dying a few times. in the end you get the loss but are punished solely for losing instead of your individual efforts. I was thinking that we need a system that some how is a point based system similar to the mastery system they added with grades. It shouldnt determine how much LP you lose just from winning or losing. Because lets be honest, you're being matched with 4 other random people some of which are playing to win, others to have fun with something they havent tried, or those who give up due to frustration( in the end some contribute more than others). - its a team game, its not your job to carry 4 other people. If that is the only option than that is our problem that needs to be addressed.)
You should lose less or earn more points depending on how much you contribute such as assists, kills, towers, dmg done, deaths, dragons taken, barons taken, minions killed etc. That makes it more fair. If someone is afk they would obviously not have anything contributed so they would therefore lose more LP than everyone else. You cant say that everyone is of equal skill in your bracket just because they win or lose as much as you do. point being is because everyone has different amount of games played, i have over 1200 normal games and about the same amount of ranked games (total) you cant tell me that someone who completed provisionals and gets placed in silver 4 or 2 and they just hit 30 for the first time is equal in skill as me. I am currently gold 5 and try my hardest to hit higher ranks, but in all honesty it doesnt become a skill issue. Most people say get better, carry, or pick better champs- lets not be delusional... basing a ranked placement off of a provisional system isnt fair to those that are rightly placed or have already been placed early in the season. (In the olympics you dont start with a silver metal you have to earn it, so to make it fair everyone needs to climb from bronze to make it fair just as i have and many others have. Its possible, but i believe the system is bad because many people arent where they belong, and it isnt fair because of the way the system bases those provisional games off of just wins and losses. What if someone duos with someone better. the original player feeds in all his games, but his duo carries him to about mid to high silver just from giving him those wins...ranked is about progression, everyone at some point should of experienced bronze, silver, gold, plat, diamond, master, and challenger if they make it that high. I have so many friends that never been bronze but are silver with many less games played than most, or gold without being silver (very rare.) but you get my point. ( many argue that that player would eventually drop because he sucks, but the point is as that player is dropping, so are his fellow teammates that were unfortunate to have him on their team.)
---example: imagine trying to survive with 4 other random people, one guy refuses to get the wood needed for the fire, the other guy goes to hunt but gets mauled by a bear(after his wounds heal he does the same thing over and over trying to kill the mother bear), the 3rd is trying to build as best he can out of the wood given but the 4th person continues to destroy the wooden shelter because he believes it sucks and then you have the 5th person thats trying to blame the builder for not building fast enough and then goes to drown himself in the river. lol now its not fair to the guy who is trying to survive and reach a goal when everyone else is on a different page entirely. The ranked system depends too much on randomness to determine your true rank. Even the pick order proves that.
