Why have an ADC at all?

This isn't a troll question. I'm genuinely curious as to why its not common to have somebody like Fiora or Irelia bot lane with the support who are AD and can also hard carry if ahead. Or even Jayce who has great poke, decent burst and more escape than most ADC's do with the transform movespeed, acceleration gate and knock back.

IMO (at least in normals and low elo) most of the time if the ADC isn't really ahead, all they are is a meat-shield to absorb enemy ults and catch assassins out since so amount of good positioning (a rarity in normals as it is) will save you from the enemy champs diving on top of you if your team doesn't peel. Not to mention that AFAIK there are no ADC's that have exceptional farming abilities like Irelia Yorick or Pantheon who all have abilities that make it super easy to never miss any farm.

You ever try and play a melee champion as adc bot lane? Especially with Mage supports being really good? You don't get to have a health bar like those privileged ranged folk.

Plus ADCs will always be best at melting champions. Fiora is good and all but she requires hitting specific points at specific times which slows her down plus she can't kite since she's melee. The point of the ADC is to be a safe damage hose. Firing shot after shot behind a shield, whether it be a support, tank or an entire team. It's why they typically build glass cannon so they can put out max damage, since the best damage build will beat the best tank build is covered properly. And if you can melt a tank, you will obliterate anything less.

Your listed champs have early game shock value. Yeah you could go fiora or jayce bot lane and have a good to probable chance of winning the lane since the other ADC needs to scale more than you. But late game when you're team fighting, their adc is safe behind nautilus or Janna while your adc (fiora, Jayce, Irelia) is leaping in, doing less damage and getting CC'd or blown up themselves.

You're not pro though so you could win games as jayce or Yasuo or fiora or whatever. Go ahead if you feel you can pull it off, I've lost more ranked games than I care to admit to a Yasuo adc and have even lost to some absolute stupid shit like master yi adc. But it's much, much harder and just more logical, both for gameplay and for team morale, to go a champion designed for the role. It's called ADC but really it means marksman. (Teemo's sold separately.)

Generally, its because if you don't you won't be able to fight tanks/bruisers lategame and often melee replacements lose in lane too hard.

For example, Fiora and Irelia would get bullied by an adc and a ranged support really badly, so they don't have any strength over an adc since adcs win lategame.

The range on standard ADCs is valuable for sieging turrets. It's much more difficult to push against the enemy team when your primary turret damage comes from a melee.

Most melee's get bullied out by anyone with range, unless they have some significantly oppressive advantage to keep up the pace, see the horrendous rework of mordekaiser.
