Variable Knockup

We have the technology. but really though, janna tornado knockup is reduced by tenacity(I think), or at least there is some sort of variation in the knockup, why can't tenacity reduce knockup cc, which happens to be over half of the cc in the game now?

EDIT: I suppose I probably should not use exaggeration in trying to prove my point, it lessens my impact. To clarify, I replace "knockup cc" with "displacement effects," if which none are reduced by tenacity. The point I'm trying to make here is that for most of the COMMON cc(Again, sorry for no clarification), there is no counterplay. you can't buy tenacity to reduce the displacement effect. in small knockbacks, it might be negligible, but in large knockbacks such as lee sins ult/xins ult or knockups in general(about the janna q, thanks for pointing the charging has to do with the knockup time), it would allow for shorter time to be disabled. while you are being knocked back or airborne, you cannot activate any abilities or contribute to the game. It is really a suppression with the bonus that no "exception abilities" (such as QSS or trynd's ult) cannot be activated either. I believe that tenacity should reduce the time for knockups and distance for knockbacks. Hopefully this makes more sense than the first time.

A) the point of knockups is that the duration isn't affected by tenacity.

B) Janna's knockup duration increases with the charge time, so if it seems low, it probably just wasn't fully charged.

C) I don't have numbers on hand, but I seriously doubt that a literal majority of CCs in the game are knockups, even if you count all displacements as knockups.

I think they meant cc that stops movement and use of abilities and autos, so not including slows/blinds or even zyra's because you can still auto. With that definition of cc knockups may be the most common.

Stuns.

I apologize. neither knockups nor knockbacks are affected by tenacity, and by "knockups" i was referring to both. so yes, displacement effects.

my point is that I think that the duration SHOULD be affected by tenacity. I explained it near the end of my edit. There's no counterplay for knockups.

And I said that the POINT of knockups is to not be affected by tenacity. They're the ultimate CC that will always perform the same way every time they land (unless it's on an ulting Olaf). Even suppression, the other tenacity-immune CC can be interrupted because they're all channels. They're a lot more common now than when they were first introduced into the game, but that doesn't change their design. If they were affected by tenacity, they would be functionally identical to stuns except that they could proc yasuo ult.

And let's also remember that the longest single knockup in the game is only 1.5 seconds, shorter than the longest stun with 35% tenacity.

you do have a point. I guess it always just seems like you are disabled completely for much longer than 1.5 seconds.

Let us begin. Shall we do it in song? No, we'll be fine.

There's Riven, Cho'Gath, Alistair, Rek'sai, Yasuo, Aatrox, Azir, Blitzcrank, Braum, Diana, Fizz, Janna, Nami, Nautilus, Malphite, Lulu, Leeasy, Kalista, Jarvan IV, Sejuani, Sion, Vi, Wukong, Xin Zhao, Zac, Zyra. I believe that's them all, could be wrong ;)

So, that's 27 champions with the supposed best cc in the game, that Riot wanted to be an uncommon occurrence. WHOOOPS, guess who fucked that ult by adding a champion that can knockup a champion every five seconds?

As i just stated above, I also include displacement effects, because those are not reduced by tenacity. I'm not sure you want to go through all the champions who have displacement effects of a sort.

Slows are actually the most common form of CC.

We're seeing a lot of knockups being introduced because there wasn't actually a lot that could proc a Yasuo ult when he was released. Sure, knockbacks do it, but it's usually not as effective or easy.

Pardon the exaggeration. Although you may be on to something, about more knockup people being played because of yasuo, (I actually find it quite easy if you are paying attention to use r on, say, a thresh hook(mostly because button mashing!)), but knockups are becoming increasingly common, and there is no way to counterplay.

Wait why? Tenacity is to be very determined, persistant, but the can't really do anything about being knocked up, oh I want to get down but I'm not in an anime so I can't control gravity. Tenacity makes sense when it comes to slows and stuns, knockups? not so much
