How fun/unique is Aurelion Sol?

Hey guys,

As you probably have already noticed, Riot's recent champs, including the long-awaited dragon himself, are pretty unique in their mechanics and playstyles (Illaoi with tentacles, Jhin with his crazy AS and Crit scalings, etc.).

I myself have been looking for a fun Mid/Jungle Mage to play, and Sol seems the perfect fit. I haven't played him at all yet, so what is your opinion on him? Is he worth the IP, or do you have other suggestions for midlane/jungle mages that are fun and unique?

He might be my favorite champion. I am so impressed with these last few champion releases. Illa, Jhin, and space dog are light years ahead of the champ designs in other MOBAs, and, frankly, most of the champions in this MOBA too.

Space dog reminds me of Star Fleet Command, or the old naval games, where you're constantly jockeying to maintain optimal range. There's a real "broadside" feeling to the way his orbital stars play out. Well worth the 7800IP in my opinion.

Honestly, Sol is kinda strong/ borderline op atm, considering he is like the mage version of a juggernaut lmao. Worth the ip? In terms of mage/jg role? nah, buy diana. Her potential in jungle is as beautiful as her potential in the mid lane. You can also try zyra in the jg o.o not sure how good it works personally, but i hear its legit haha, plus her mid game is strong anyway.

I haven't played him, but it's very fun standing in his path as Poppy and pressing W

if you want an AP mid laner/jg ekko is tones of fun and has lots of out play potential. his jg side takes some more getting used to but it is tons of fun. I feel like Riot is gonna nerf Sol anyway because he is super punishing and fairly east to play. so if they do nerf then idk about it being worth the ip until he gets put down to 6300.
