Suggestion to prevent spam pings

Sometimes allies can be a real pain in the ass when they start spamming their pings all day long, like.. really spamming it, but then you realize that you can't mute his pings, you can only mute him from talking in the chat.

Here's what I think would be a lot better for when you want to mute somebody for being toxic or abusive.

Solution 1 would be to add a ''MUTE PING'' button

Solution 2 would be to make it the same thing as when you spam the chat in the champion select, and make it so that you are unable to ping for X seconds, and if he keeps spamming pings after X seconds, make the sentence LONGER, until he is unable to ping for X games.

I feel like solution 2 would be a way to at least partially fix the angry spam pingers, as it was proved that ~78% of the people who are punished in the tribunal don't get punished a second time (I don't know if its exactly 78% but I'm pretty sure that's what the game said)

I think these changes would be for the best and if you feel like there's any downside to this please say it in the comments

The only problem with the second solution (stopping the person from pinging) is that if they cant ping, they cant communicate except through chat. Which is most likely already muted. Therefore they Physically wouldnt be able to communicate and therefore get reported and banned for it. The first option of a "mute ping" option isnt a good thing either because if they say they pinged, but you didnt hear it or see it, then they didnt and you report them for not communicating effectively banning them. 2 different approaches to the same exact possible ending.

Maybe something they could do is prevent anyone from pinging more than 2 times every 30-45 seconds. That seems to actually be a much better option for this kind of system. It also could be treated like the system for chat where you get one message every X amount of time except with pings. That could be bad tho (considering that people dont like to put emphasis on pings so they likely ignore only one ping) but it would help clear out the spammers and make people thing twice before spamming.

Yeah I thought about that one too when writing my post, but riot already has a system like that, but its like 10 pings ever 20 seconds

There's also that solution in which riot put it an advanced option in which you can decide how many pings you want to hear from X players per X period of time but I don't think that would happen so I didn't put it in here.

And yeah when you put it like that, my first solution may not be an answer after all. Thanks for the feedback

That would also take alot of effort and work by the player unless there was one global option to set how many youll see at a time or something, which again, would be REALLY hard to manage
