Does Malz counter Zed?

You can safely farm at distance with visions making it hard for Zed to poke you. Plus, being melee he's almost guaranteed to catch space Ebola from every wave. If he all ins you, you hit all your buttons and all in him right back, but your all in has hard CC so he can't run off if he tries to start with you, and tower diving you Malz as Zed is just suicide because of the suppress.

I've been doing well with Malz against Zed and I'm bot sure if it's because Malz is good against Zed, or because those Zed's were terrible or both.

No one is good against Zed. Some champs are just ** less shitty.**

malzahar is one of the best 1v1 champions in the game. you would certainly win lane versus zed, but once he gets a QSS he should be able to outduel you later in the game. he would wait for you to ult and then cleanse the suppression and ult himself to negate the damage, then you'd just be fighting with your QWE which are fairly unreliable without the ult holding them in place.

He gets qss you get zhonya and proceed to continue to beat him

if you land your Q maybe. i dont think the E alone would outdamage him even without his ult.

If you push, you're way more susceptible to junglers though

Malz is a soft counter to Zed. Take Exhaust and builder Seeker's -> Zhonya's early. He will never be able to kill you in lane unless you make a big mistake. You should be able to outfarm him and constantly pressure his tower to keep him from roaming for kills.

The most important thing in an actual fight is to drop your Q behind whoever he Ults. This will silence him the instant he comes out and prevent him from stacking up his Death Mark damage with his abilities or escaping via Shadow / Flash. Basically all he can do here is auto-attack (nerfed!) or walk away while being focused by your team. If he has a QSS to get rid of the silence, you can immediately follow with your Ult and he dies anyway. If all else fails, just toss your Exhaust on him when he comes out of his Ult to prevent the instagib. Exhaust double-dips on Zed since it reduces both the damage he can stack into Death Mark, as well as the actual Death Mark itself so it completely neuters his burst.

I would say its a pretty even match up. Maybe slightly favoring Malz if he can control where the minions fight. If Zed is able to freeze the lane on his side Malz is going to be in trouble.

Malz should be running some armor runes and Zed should be running some MR runes. Failure to do so will likely result in losing trades, and thus the lane (unless your some kind of badass).

Yes.

Malzahar is the anti-assassin. I use him all the time against these jerks: Zed Yasuo KatarinaAkali

Just be very careful against Fizz Leblanc. You can definitely win but their all in can and will seriously F you up. Fizz's knock up on his ult is a counter to your ult, and trying to land a Q on LB is just hilariously impossible.
