So i'm fairly new to the game about lvl 13 and I really like Garen but i know he is pretty bad in higher levels. After some research I saw that Wukong is pretty similar but i'm doing really bad with him. So right now i'm thinking about jarvan iv and tryndamere, so who do you think is more viable. And if they are both not viable; what are your recommendations.

In my personal opinion , If you really like Garen you should keep sticking with him. He's not seen in the much higher ranks but doesn't mean hes not good. There's a challenger Garen called Riste who streams on Twitch if your interested in looking and watching high elo Garen gameplay. As for Wukong its fine that you get a few bad games with a champ its a learning experience but if your having fun keep going with them. Trynd and Jarvan IV are both great champs with basic kits and easy to play, if you asked me id say jarvan IV can provide alot of different things to the game more than trydn can but both are great champs either way.

Generally speaking, always play to your favorites. That policy has served me well in League and various other games. On an objective level, Garen is highly effective for a long, long time after level 13. You'll need to rise to Diamond or so before you start seeing people who know how to play against him, and even then, if you know how to play him really well by that time, you can still feasibly outplay them.

riste is currently playing at around 560 lp challenger, and today a Qiyana asked him if he maxed w when he parried her q and she dealt no damage.

even that far up, people dont know how his kit really works.

To be fair, it's technically a targeted damage reduction. When I think of a "true" parry, I think of Fiora's riposte.

i mean. its practically the same mechanic as fioras riposte only with 60% strength.

instead of full damage and cc immunity, you get 60% reduction on both. dont know if its just me, but i call it a parry for that reason.

I can see the logic in it, but being that Fiora's also rejects CC, I feel like it makes it more... parry-like. I think of a parry in a swordfight, whereby you literally turn the enemy's blade away and, often, set them up to be counterattacked. Because Garen can still take CC, it feels more like a block than a parry, but I definitely get why it might be called a parry.
