Everyone says Wukong is shit so who should i play?

MkMayo··3 votes·2,609 views

I'm pretty sure it's common knowledge that Wukong is in a pretty bad spot rn. So who is similar to wukong in kit and is actually good bc whenever i try to see if someone is viable everyone is like "they are in a bad spot" or "they shit boi". I don't about difficulty since i believe i can get good at them as i progress. Thank you in advance.

If you like Wukong, just play him. Him being "shit" doesn't matter at all until very high elo.

WuKong, since if you are good with him you can absolutely destroy teams with him.

Wiented1 votes

Not true. You can "destroy" teams if you get LUCKY. His clearspeed so f*ckin bad he needs to be fed kills to be any threat. He has no cc outside of his ult so he is useless when behind.

It's not all about luck, it's about skill and how you play around it. For early game to save you exp and a slightly faster clear don't smite your buff then clear the nearest camp, really simple.

At some point you should take it as, there are some people that are much more mechanically inclined and know the in's and out's of roles, so sometimes you should check if the person you are talking to know what they are talking about before hand.

Vi can full clear whole jungle with crab at 4:10 with full HP. She also outscales Wukong and her CC makes her more reliable when behind. Why play Wukong whan you an play Vi? Also, Wukong is not really a "skillful" champion, if you get luck and get free double kill you can snowball out of control but if enemy is playing decent, warding and tracking you, you are worthless. You will get outfarmed by enemy jungler and not have enough damage OR utility to make up for it. Stats dont lie, 48% WR champion...

So youre telling me that tracking the enemy jungler helps makes them irrelevant? HOLY!!!! That's insane my dude, if only you could do that with literally every jungle champion in the game and even laners! Imagine how nice that would be?

Note how being a better player will almost always net you a win as compared to someone going for a niche. Play wukong, insta the adc or even mid laner and then use your ult to cc the enemy team hopefully your team follows up. I mean its not like wukong doesn't have an AOE CC Ult right? Vi surely does! I mean, why not right?

Again winrate doesn't account for games that were out of that champions control, what does it really matter if a wukong average kda is 2.56 with a 48% winrate. Even if you are behind wukong has a good game changing ult. Besides the fact, wukong has most games playing in Silver and low plat. Almost 60% of all his games are between those two ranks, where there is definitely not conclusive statistics to even back it up. Mainly because Silver and plat are filled with garbage players.

Ok, i will just present you the objective facts and leave the conversation since you clearly just want to have the upper hand in conversation instead of getting to the conclusion.

  1. In plat+ wukong has 48% win ratio
  2. He has terrible clear so he get outpaced by enemy junglers very easily
  3. He has no hard cc pre 6, cant even get crabs reliably
  4. He has little objective control
  5. He has no sustain
  6. He has no utilty for his team
  7. He has no range or waveclear
  8. His kit has little outplay potential (clone is cute but its not even close to other bruisers like Jax Irelia... or even Vi)
  9. He has weak ganks pre 6
  10. At lvl 6 his ult has 120 sec cooldown (which is massive), during that cd he cant gank and is forced to farm which he doesnt do well
  11. After lvl 11 he is somewhat decent but once again, you can just pick any other diver and not be bothered.

Conclusion:

  • If you want solo carry with easy to play champ with great early/mid/lategame play champs like Vi, J4, Lee or even Xin
  • If you want to just have good teamfights play Amumu
  • If you want to prove me wrong, use logical arugments instead of forcing your bias with words like "skill" or "insta the adc" like it was good base for playing the champion reliably.

Also, tracking most junglers is NOT making them irrelevant since they can just farm it out. Wukong really cant.

You play LCS big plays champions, the ones Riot wants you to play.

There are quite a few high Elo wukong players.

Harambre is grandmaster on wukong mid, if you like wu, you definitely can play him to success. (He also streams under the same name.)

I run into a lot of wukong Chinese accounts smurfing in NA too. Only reason he’s really considered bad is because he can be easily countered inside the laning phase, and if you don’t have a lead you’re on a suicide mission when you dive in and ult without killing anyone. Against anti-engage comps (Alistar, ornn, poppy, cassio, xayah, etc) playing wu into them might make you want to eat glass.

wukong isnt bad so to speak he has invisiblity that fuel his dusk proc for 2nd helping of his damage then ult. its just the wrong comp can destroy you.

MkMayo1 votes

What would u mean as a wrong comp?

xDogMeatx1 votes

hardcore protect the carry plus invisible assassin (eve is a example) comp is one. where your always paranoid since wards could be anyway as well as with them or irelia yasuo champion types after that soraka then imo unknown. hes mainly to kill squishies unexpectedly if they see this sprint to them his gank is useless but its devastating (if successful) given his attack speed on E. on teamfights that knockup stuns them and allows ult follow ups so hes strong in a AOE comp.

So I should be scared of all ap types teams with a bunch of assiansins.

MkMayo1 votes

And focus on killing squishy champions.

xDogMeatx1 votes

no? thats where he is wanted to be i mean those "outplay" types are those you should watch out for. i mean you can build him against xerath/ziggs types. and assassins that have dueling power namely nocturne are those that can beat you or those juggs named chogath can survive your dmg.

but seriously play him a couple of matches then evaluate his strengths/weaknesses.

I would go with Jarvan. He has good burst early like Wukong and AOE Teamfight ultimate. He is more mobile but deals less damage with ultimate. I feel like he is very similar. :)

Disulfiram1 votes

You like Wukong? Then play Wukong. "Wukong is shit" only means that he'll get you to Platinum if you deserve Diamond.

Kazekiba1 votes

Play wukong.

Or Yi

Eedat1 votes

I main Wu and have found other divers like Hecarim, Vi, and Jarvan can scratch that itch as well

Depends what you find great about his kit, if stealth/making the enemy think is your game; Shaco is good for that (though very buggy). Another that pops to mind is Evelynn, and she's doing very well right now. Another is Kha'zix, invisibility with his ultimate and several ways to evolve to adapt to the game. And if you mean go in and stun multiple people then assassinate, then Jax is a good pick.

The order I personally recommend from best to worst (for new players to them in general) from the above is: Evelynn Jax Khazix Shaco

Wukong CAN be good once you practice him enough. Don't give up on that monkey, BECOME the monkey king.

To do this, you have to explore MORE of his capabilities. Try out more runes, builds, playstyles. Wukong can be viable once you learn the monkey way.

Don't give up on him. Wukong does have his moments, even if the meta is not in his favor.
