So I've been reading about Lich Bane, specifically on how it is a bad idea to get it as first item. (buying Sheen first but not completing it is fine). So why do I see so many Fizz players complete it as first item?
What about Lich Bane as second item (after Hextech Gunblade) on Akali?
Well, for Akali, Gunblade first is core. Anything else is 99% of the time going to be the wrong choice.
As for Fizz, I don't entirely agree that getting it first is wrong. Not sure where you heard it is (check this out: http://www.leagueofgraphs.com/champions/items/fizz). However, it does have one problem that is part of how Lichbane is...
It scales off your AP and--aside from the AP it gives--you don't have much to make it really strong in the early game, especially as a first buy.
I know some Fizz players say Lich first isnt good, but I kinda like it. It gives an ok amount of AP, move speed and its still gonna give you ~50+ more damage on the Sheen proc. Theres nothing else to really rush anyway, Zhonyas.. only against Zed, Abyssal.. not when there are 3-4 AD champs every game, Morello or a Hextech item... eh.
Lich Bane as second item on Akali isn't bad, but ideally the second item should be something defensive like hourglass or abyssal. You usually get Lich Bane as a 3rd or later item, unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure you can steamroll the team without defensive items.
