Why is Yasuo getting hotfix buffed after a single day?

Fisher No Chains··7 votes·8,063 views

Riot Scuffy just shared that a hotfix patch is going to hit live later today, including Ez, Kai’Sa and Banner nerfs (thank god) and Taliyah and Yasuo buffs.

Now, why are both, but primarily Yasuo, getting buffed back after a single day? I mean, I know that he got hit hard with the crit changes, but he has a 46% WR and 18% pick rate in Diamond+, which is not TOO BAD for a supposedly high skill (and high frustration) champion after just one day with the new patch.

There’s more champions that were shit before 8.11 and are now even worse that are being completely ignored until 8.12, but why does Yasuo (and also Taliyah, to an extent) get a special treatment for that?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

You think Riot can let one of their money makers be remotely fair? C'mon now.

Fisher No Chains4 votes

Well I would understand if it was a 4% pickrate with an abysmal win rate, but the 18% pickrate is quite high and people may need to adapt their builds to new stuff maybe?

Let’s buff him regardless, even though he deserves to be in the gutter alongside Kalista.

Ragnaveil2 votes

He has a high pickrate because his kit and people who are really good at the champ charm players into wanting to try him. So when the boards said that the IE crit change was a buff, it was hook line sinker to have people still play the champ, even though many, including myself, knew it was straight up going down for him.

Fisher No Chains2 votes

I think that most people are smart enough to understand that it is not a buff but rather a nerf. Regardless, I don’t think that instabuffing him (or even Taliyah, even though the Q nerf really ruined her gameplay) after 1 day is the right move.

Ragnaveil2 votes

Really? You should take a trip back to when the IE change first was released on the PBE. The amount of Hatesuo threads exceeded the amount we had last year by a good mile.

Fisher No Chains1 votes

It was mostly low rank people that hate Yasuo with a passion. No one could objectively say that IE changes were a buff.

Ragnaveil1 votes

Yeah, but lets be honest. Do they really want to accept it as a nerf, or just use their hate and try to spin it off as a buff?

Fisher No Chains2 votes

Meh, I think that it’s mostly the “yasuo is frustrating and/or I can’t beat him, so he must be op” mentality there. Happens with a lot of champions, but Yasuo is the perfect scapegoat simply because he’s very popular, especially in low elo.

Ragnaveil1 votes

Kinda the issue since a champ that requires tons of practice is a perfect excuse of a ELO boosting champ for midlane. Primarily the reason why he's played a lot in low ELO. Little to no idea on how to counter him due to lack of experience=Pretty smooth sailing.

Besides, I looked at the hotfix and it was a bugfix, +3 to base ad, and crits on Q went from 150% to 180%. Still waiting on if they will remove the crit limiter of -10% on his passive since he has no way of getting rid of it since the IE change.

Fisher No Chains2 votes

It’s the same with LeBlanc, Zed or every other outplays-intensive champion. They’re a problem for low elo (basically low elo stompers), but need to be broken to become meta picks in high elo.

He’s also easier to deal with in high elo because most junglers know that he’s basically free gold when he has no flash, whereas low elo junglers really lack the macro needed to abuse him during laning phase.

SkullNatoR1 votes

It is a mid game nerf

Ragnaveil1 votes

You also have to look at it as a late game and early game nerf as well (but in two different aspects). He has to dump a shit ton of money into both items. Point 1. Doesn't allow him to really invest into other items unless given a lead. Point 2. Makes him a viable gank target to put behind. Point 3. #2's result and current average gametime length make it near impossible to get the "late" game Yas has been known for.

Luckily they plan on reworking the crit passive and his R passive since now they are pretty much outdated effects (Passive is on IE, and R passive is from a meta long forgotten).

SkullNatoR1 votes

Rofl???? Lets give everyone yasuo passive, lets remove bonus crit dmg(and keep his -10% crit dmg ) and make it more expensive, and lets make pd +200 and shiv +300, his core items got nerfed, and the patch wasnt mean to him and he got dropped so hard.. and that hotfix isnt even enough(base ad +3)(q crit dmg from 150% to 180%) but imo still better than nothing

Ragnaveil2 votes

"remotely fair" Did you ever think about a good example of remotely fair before saying this, or are you just spouting your annoying trash again?

Masala Chai5 votes

The winrate in Plat+ is 44% for both, which is abysmal for any champion unless they were a new addition to the cast. Most champions in that range get a hotfix after a major patch hits.

Fisher No Chains5 votes

Well, the thing is that he’s been strong for quite some time, and a patch in which he’s not over 50% is not that bad. They could figure out how to properly buff him next patch, there’s champions that hover between 45 and 46%WR for quite some time now (just like Syndra).

Akali is SO HOT9 votes

He has been average at best for the past few patches. He has been mostly below and sometimes barely above a 50% winrate for many patches now. No idea why people think he's been strong.

Ragnaveil6 votes

Because its the common stigma that haters think he's always going to be OP even if he gets gutted like a fish.

Fisher No Chains4 votes

Because it’s Yasuo. It’s not like he’a Annie or something, he’s SUPPOSED to have a below-50%WR average considering his insane pickrate.

So average that in NA challenger some streamers (naming, Shiphtur and even somebody else, I don’t remember who) used to ban him last patch.

SithesisLord1 votes

A 48-49% winrate is acceptable for popular champions.

Anything below that indicates the need for buffs.

I hate Yasuo as much as any sane person, but he did need buffs. Besides, it´s not like the buffs are post-release Ornn levels. They´re suitable buffs, slight as to not make him pick/ban at any elo that matters, but enough to give him some much needed power.

SkullNatoR1 votes

He has way below win rate than that

An Actual Ditto2 votes

So because he's popular, he should be garbage? When are the Janna, Lux, and Ahri nerfs coming then?

SkullNatoR1 votes

Janna needs one lil bit nerf, lux and ahri are completely fine, singed needs some early tankiness nerf

Ragnaveil1 votes

{quoted}

Janna needs one lil bit nerf, lux and ahri are completely fine, **singed needs some early tankiness nerf **

For sure. Ult needs the effects to go down. It should be made that tank Singed should be a team effort to kill, and not AP Singed. Makes no sense that frontload damage builds like that should be surviving almost unscathed in the middle of a enemy team. Meanwhile, Riot's been silent when talking about Singed. I don't think they realized how much these "non-meta" picks are/were waiting for one fuckup to ascend into godhood. Can't blame them since the community bombarded them with wanting ADs to have less power (although these changes are overkill in certain cases). The very same AD power we removed was the one thing keeping AP Singed down. Fucker has to build a Banner and he's done in terms of resistance items. Also Dark Seal should be made a UNIQUE passive or Singed's early game stats go down. His proxy is a major issue considering all he needs is Corrupting pot, two dark seals, and level 6 to pretty much proxy inside the enemy base.

Ezreal high pick rate high win rate in all elos :)

Shalløw1 votes

Man just get better at the game, some champs are stronger than yasuo with lesser winrate, and I don't see you complaining, gosh, some f*cking people.

SkullNatoR1 votes

100% true lol

SkullNatoR1 votes

But the huge indirect nerf he received wasn’t mean to him, i mean riot wanted to make crit adcs have weaker mid game, not Yasuo, even it wasn’t mean to him, he is now in top 10 LOWEST win rates because of that, the hot fix of other adcs is also to make their mid game weaker, and the hotfix buff for yasuo”even tho its not enough at all because we are waiting for the rework” was like a message that we didn’t want to nerf him

report yasuo1 votes

BRO PLS STFU MAN YASUO IS SO BAD ATM NOT MY FAULT YOU SUCK ASSSSSSS.

Fisher No Chains3 votes

I’m not complaining about Yasuo being strong though, I’m complaining that a high pick rate, high skill champion is getting hotfix buffed ONE DAY after the patch hits live.

A little bit too much, isn’t it?

report yasuo1 votes

No considering he dropped the most out of all champs this patch by a lot and ofc they gonna hotfix him he dropped so many tiers??? Like wtf is your point?

Shalløw1 votes

It ain't, he is super trash, you making it sound as if that small hotfix will change everything when it won't, you're saying that he has a high pick rate, while he gets banned 24/7 in gold and lower, almost everyone is trash at him, so that hotfix isn't really working out, even Yassuo is struggling with him, same with Arkadata. This hotfix is more of a painkiller, to ease the pain a little for actual good Yasuo mains. [zombie-brand-facepalm]

He's a very popular champion.

Fisher No Chains2 votes

Then Riot is showing favoritism towards a specific champion, which is not good either.

Renégade1 votes

If you think riot is showing favorism towards yasuo, you are very mistaken. Only 2 people in the riot balance team play yasuo. Now, be it balance team or not, riot hates yasuo. This can be proven by looking at posts of riot. Say, the addition where skins show on tab menu. They stated "Excuse me, 0/10 yasuo, what skin do you have in this game", they called him a tilt incarnate, rioters themselves commented on reddit threads where a person asked which chanpion would you remove from the game, they replied Yasuo. In a video where they explained how ping works and what happens when you press Q, a Yasuo towerdiving ashe and spamming mastery 7 was featured, then died and tried to windwall the last tower shot, shortly after he died, he flashed mastery 7 again. I am pretty sure there are more examples but these are the ones i could think of. I hope you see that they infact do hate him.

Maultron1 votes

He's a very popular champion, and myself as a Yasuo main, and player, would even know that the new crit/IE changes with him were REALLY buggy, I didn't report any of them, but in practice tool, found a LOT of bugs. Overall, I know this response was pretty short, but I feel like Yasuo was going to be effected, and like the Redit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/YasuoMains/comments/8njg3p/moe_just_said_there_might_be_changes_if_yasuo_is/ says, will be either really strong, or weak, but turned out for him to be weak prior to hitting his power spike, but afterwards felt little to no difference.

Fisher No Chains2 votes

I think that fixing the interaction between IE and his passive’s crit change modifiers would be a decent buff before changing other stuff tbh

An Actual Ditto1 votes

That's not a buff, that's a fixing a bug that shouldn't even be there

Spicy Rice1 votes

Here’s the thing about yasuo, he has a high winrate for a high skill cap champ due to him having the most dedicated player base afaik.

Due to that, him dropping or gaining winrate like he did in the past day suggests something is extremely wrong

SkullNatoR1 votes

Imo, as a yasuo one trick, its more of challenging rn for bad yasuo players to climb with him rn, so i both like and dislike what happened

Kessarean1 votes

His winrate dropped from 49% to 43% in about 6 hrs, then stabled out to about 44%. That would be reason enough for any champion to get hot fixed. These were not small nerfs, they were massive changes to the core of the champion's damage and build path.

SkullNatoR1 votes

True af

BlazerGod1 votes

Looking a few seasons back, yeah he needs buffs.

Maultron1 votes

True, but Yasuo has such a weak early game now... outstanding late game, but super weak early game... EDIT: Also, Yasuo has such a bad laning phase in the current meta since basicly, better jungler wins now... well, depending on where you're playing from (position/role)...
