Tanks Need Big Change
Defining Tanks:
Riot has defined Tanks for us as, "Tanks excel in shrugging off incoming damage and focus on disrupting their enemies more than being significant damage threats themselves." Now they also separate the description for two subclasses of Tanks called Vanguards and Wardens defined as, "We like to refer to Vanguards as “offensive tanks.” Vanguards lead the charge for their team and are specialists at getting action started. Their explosive team fight initiation seeks to catch enemies out of position while allowing allies to follow-up to devastating effect." and, "If Vanguards are “offensive tanks,” then Wardens are surely “defensive tanks.” Wardens stand steadfast, seeking to hold the line by persistently locking down any oncomers who try to pass them. Wardens keep their allies out of harm’s way and allow them to safely deal with enemies caught in the fray." respectively. Personally I believe these are good ways to describe tanks throughout all games that have included Tanks as a class.
Problem with Tanks:
So if we go by how Riot has defined Tanks then that means that Tanks are suppose to be team oriented either engage or peel that don't dish out damage but absorb significant amounts of damage. Tanks in League of Legends simply output too much damage. Tanks should not have percent health damage. Tanks should not scare anyone when they are alone.
Solutions for Tanks:
Tanks need to do less damage so remove all percent health damage from their kits. Reduce most/all base and scaling damage. Increase the number off abilities that give resistance and increase health on tanks. Give tanks more crowd control. These are the big ideas of what needs to happen to make Tanks healthy in League of Legends.
