Why is playing a made support so bad?

So I see a lot of the boards complaining about champions like brand and mal. I'm a brand support main and I don't see why people act like we can't exist because we do damage unlike most the other supports. We still buy Sightstone and sweep wards. We have strong lane presence and peel. Some pretty dam good teamfighting. Yet apparently I'm just a apc from boards pov reguardless if I feed my jhins or lower enemy team to give vayne a penta.

Probably from supports being harassed so much; for example, a marksmen goes out of position and gets killed, them blames you when you couldn't stop them from their stupidity. Play something off-meta? Get flamed for it even if you win the game, more often than not, and so on.

Even riot calls us a slave role so it's only fitting the 0/10 adc will blame you for not slaving hard enough

Pretty much started in season 2, when they started flaunting the strategy one of the 'pro' teams was using. And go figure it's the common setup now; 1 top, 1 jungle, 1 middle, 2 bottom.

Not going to lie, nearly every brand in my games outdamage everybody else. The liandrys rylais combo is so annoying along with his passive >_>

Yea I tend to get most damage feels good though

One little stun... Now massive peel potential. You're right one little stun is massive, huge, probably bigger than Blitzcrank a pull, knockup, and silence, or bigger thanJanna a knockup, massive slow, shield, knockback, and heal.

so poke, Aoe damage, executing passive, best team fighting of all support with maybe thresh ahead of him = one little stun

How the hell is damage peel? That's like saying the ADC is loaded with peel. Damage =/= peel.

So you are saying you engage just as hard at 20% life as you do when at 100% life? Because something tells me you don't.

Yes I would. At 20% as blitz I get a shield, and a brand after using his combo is just asking for a grab.

slow claps Gratz on finding a champ and situation where you actually would. FYI, almost all other champs get played a lot less bravely at 20% health.

Because Made Supports have no damage, and limited peel/tankyness early. So they can't prevent towerdives at all. Because the adc doesn't have damage either. Thats how they work. They scale insanely well with items but kinda suck without em. Mage supports can chunk and cc well enough that you can actually win a towerdive if you play it well enough. They provide actual counterplay to the current meta. Regretably...

edit: I thought you meant Made supports as in champs designed to be supports like Janna or Braum. I kinda like that distinction tbh, Made Supports vs Mage Supports.

this double posted for some reason

I like the extra detail with continuing call them made supports thus as long as this thread is active I will also call them that

I see that the hate is mostly a cause of Riot approach balancewise. This doesn't apply for every support/made (I like the typo so I'm contributing xD) but this is the "template" of the standards used for them:

  • "Pure" Support usually don't owrk at all in other lanes and if they do they are brought back into botlane support.
  • Made Supports on the other hand are tweaked in order to feel more consistent in their support role while usually not affecting their main (mid/top) performance.

Sorry for title phone apparently doesn't see mage as a word

As a Nami man, I'd rather play against a brand main. I feel my skills and kit are more unique to late game fighting. At least in low elo.

I love late game fights with brand and Nami more with brand though but well timed/placed abilities and ult ss keep me in support role

playing a mage in any lane is a crime

Personally, I think that if your support is a Made Man, he's far too important to be risking his life in the League.
