There's no reason Darius doesn't have an execution indicator

  • Cho'Gath has a true damage ultimate

  • Cho'Gath gets a visual indicator to determine when his target will die

  • Darius has a true damage ultimate

  • Darius does not get a visual indicator to determine when his target will die

Seems like a pretty simple addition to help Darius players stay relevant throughout the course of a full length game.

Eh. I would hate having indicators. I didn't even know Cho'Gath had an indicator. If you waste your ult you waste your ult, not my fault but why should they make it so its never wasted ever? That would just be stupid.

i didnt know it had an indicator either

The Ecdysiast2 votes

It could also lead into getting to bait Darius players into using it, then shielding or healing as he does.

Because people hate paying attention, and want kills with Darius handed to them on a platter, I guess.

i honestly never understood why cho got that indicator... Estimateing the damage of your execute and useing it the right time should be part of a player skill expresion, and nothing the game takes care of, especially on a truedamage execute as you exactly kow how much dmage it does and you also have the information on how much life the enemy has left.

Crett5 votes

on the fly arithmetic shouldnt be part of general skill expression; it feels really contrary to how the game should be. accessibility is very important, and it can be difficult to make full use of his ultimate's potential because of this.

i dont really play darius but i am familiar with this kind of design philosophy. players shouldnt be focused on numbers while making plays

Sire Hippington4 votes

you permanently have to estimate your damage output aswell as that of the enemie to decide wether ot not you should go for a trade or all-in. Having the right guess on your damage output relative to the enemies tankiness and vice versa is vital for mobas. If you flash with pant for that last spear to get a kill, you have to asume the damage is enough, there is no indicator either.

Also, since both Cho and Darius deal truedamage, there is not much math involved. You just need to sompare the enemie HP with the damage of your Ult, prettymuch like smiting an objektive.

Adding an icon in on the buff-bar that shows the damage of your ult similar to smite would be a nice help to keep track of your ult damage though(for darius maybe as debuff on the enemie next to the bleeding stacks, so the actuall damage to each individuall target can be shown.)

Crett1 votes

players have always had health bars to go off of. im not talking anout that, im talking about how players shouldnt have to be so gosh darn specific about it. it sucks to ult someone as darius and they had a sliver of health left. (even if bleed will get them anyway) everyone here should get what im talking about; its accessibility. it wont hurt the game or create toxic patterns, so i think it would be a good qol buff for darius.

if not an indicator, there should be a number over an enemy's head that tells you how much your ult will currently do, as opposed to the tooltip just telling you the max

readability goes far in games like this

Taking away a skill, that is on the fly arithmetic, would only make the game ever easier abd and in turn less interesting. It's a layer of interactivity with the game that doesn't only require you mash buttons.

It takes away an artificial skill factor in my opinion. Skill isn't knowing the exact value at which your ability will kill an opponent. Skill boils down to mechanics, game knowledge, intution, but most certainly not interrupting your focus at a delicate time to check if one number is higher than another. Darius' ultimate having an indicator would not remove interactivity, especially if his opponents saw the indicator as well.

kJs1 votes

Like almost all forms of interactivity in League of Legends, arithmetic use is a form of guestimation, I don't think it should be taken away. The requirement of on the fly arithmetic is as distracting as trying to land a difficult slow skillshot.

It's not an issue for me. I will end on that.

riot is leaning towards ease of use on cho gath, but it is still a judgement call for darius' case. after all, his ult is dynamic, and cho's is static

it'd be nice if a red added to this

TFW when you try to ult someone and then you see a Cho lv 16 with item 2138 and lulu ults him and that same Cho is blocking your target and you instead ult him because he is fat as fk.

But that's besides the point. It should be there. Cho has it so why not Darius? Another Clarity issue and Darius is full of em. +1

he has his bleed stacks. its not hard to estimate how much damage his ult does. just saying, they act as an indicator.

if your ult has 300 base damage, each stack adds 60 damage. just check for it when you leave the fountain after getting items.

While this is certainly true, I feel theres no reason to not give him the indicator, hell give Garen one while we're at it.

Having the indicator doesn't really make any difference balance wise (since a good player can simply figure out how much damage their ult will do)

Garen isn't true dmg tho

no. but it's obviously his execute. so true damage is irrelevant. that's like saying Gnar and Ekko should get true damage on their third hit proc because Vayne does.

But jungle timers are alright?

Lol.

Sinlaire6 votes

that's comparing apples and oranges and is entirely irrelevant.

Riot gave jungle timers so junglers wouldnt have to play the OCD game of having to time stamp and memorize all the jungle times so that they could be aware of what is spawning where. they wanted that information instantly accessible so that they could spend more time focusing on their positioning in order to add relevance to their lanes and put extra effort into their ganks without having to constantly go "when is my red up? do i have time? did i forget what time i killed it and possibly gonna lose it to counter jungle?"

executes are another thing. Elise does damage based on % missing enemy health on Q. it is stated it's pretty much her execute. no indicator on when it will kill. Jinx Does a large base damage and % missing enemy health. Is OBVIOUSLY her execute. no indicator. Garen His ultimate does a large base damage and % missing enemy health. everyone and his grandmother knows it's his execute. No indicator. Caitlyn Has no % health damage, but has higher base damage than the others i listed on her ult as well as 4500 range at max rank which every one uses to? execute. no indicator when it will kill.

Chogath ONLY has an indicator on his feast because it's related to his feast stacks and growth. THATS IT. his execute isn't just tied to killing an enemy, it's also tied to his HP growth and ability to tank for his team. His execute also applies to jungle mobs for the very reason of allowing him to gain these stacks and it only gained the indicator so that players playing Cho could acquire these stacks without the guesing game.

Every other champion with an execute has literally no other motive behind using it other than to kill a single enemy. Cho gath needs to in order to be fully utilized and relevant. Otherwise he's a squishy pint size void-ling instead of a towering tanky void-king.

Baron of Bread2 votes

The difference between all of those and Cho's and Darius's is that they are either not ultimates (Elise), are actually modified by % missing health (Garen, Jinx, Elise), can be avoided by some means (Jinx, Cait) or don't deal true damage.

So if we were to compare any of these abilities, Cho's is by far the most similar to Darius. They both also have a big reason to make sure that their ult kills someone beyond the standard "their dead": Cho gets stacks, Darius gets resets. If Cho messes up his ult he doesn't get health and is nearly useless. If Darius messes up his ult he doesn't get a reset and loses all of his kill pressure if it is middle to late game, making him nearly useless.

The only reason I consider to be reasonable for Darius not getting the indicator is that his ult has some variability to the damage thanks to blood stacks and it might cause visual clutter with the blood stacks as well, and even then I think an indicator would not be a bad addition.

Vistha Kai7 votes

Imo, Cho'Gath's indicator is the best of them all.

For example did you know a shuriken appears over a target that will die from Death Mark? I heard about it, but I still can't find that freaking shuriken.

forist7 votes

So, because one other champion has an easy kill indicator, darius should too? Does riven ult have an indicator? Does garen's? As if doing true damage wasn't enough of a bonus for a lane bully bruiser/tank champ. We don't need darius's kit to be any easier to use, lets leave at least one element of skill/decision making in his already extremely good and easy to use kit.

ZileanUltJesusOP1 votes

His kit is extremely easy but it isn't that good. Hes yorick 2.0. Shits on everyone in lane then gets shit on after laning phase

Orbv2 votes

I don't know why people think Yorick gets shit on after laning. He's not the best teamfighter but that's because he has no hard CC. He is amazing during fights because his sustain is ridiculous (and nobody is going to be targeting ghouls). He's far scarier than Mundo.

ZileanUltJesusOP1 votes

lol what... mundo is much much scarier than yorick. Yorick can sustain sure, but you just ignore him. He doesnt do that much damage and if he built damage hes easy to kill. Mundo on the other hand can build 6 tank items and still be doing 200 damage a second with sun fire and his w and he jus tstands on the adc and hes unkillable. Not to mention his insane ad buff on his e that can give him up to 180 AD. and cleavers that do 300 damage min with a slow. Mundo is far scarier and much much harder to kill. Yorick has no way to get to the backline, mundo ults and runs straight at the adc and no one can kill him. There is a reason yorick is never played. Also his entire purpose just gets outclasses by other better top laners. Renekton, darius, irelia, gnar, mundo, wukong. He cannot compete with them.

Orbv3 votes

That kind of sounds Sheepish. First off, Dr. Mundo is a sustained damage tank. He is never scary unless you're hit by a Cleaver and have no way to escape. Mundo gains 100 AD, potentially gaining another 99 based on his health. It has no scaling, he has no AA reset, and he has one of the lowest attack speeds in the game. He will only get 2 attacks off in 5 seconds. Mundo's only option is to build tank because he doesn't do well building anything else.

1 Total AD + 199 (at 1% health)

Yorick gets an AA reset which can be done in less than 1 sec. 1 Total AD + 1.2 Total AD + 150 + [40 + 35% Total AD (per hit by ghoul)]

Mundo gets a 35% speed boost when he ults. Yorick gets a 35% speed boost by pressing Q. The duration is 5 seconds, his cooldown is 5 sec with no CDR. Meaning he can ALWAYS have his speed boost up and AA reset often versus Mundo's 7 second CD.

Mundo's Slow is 40% and last 2 seconds, dealing 280 dmg to a single person, but does scale if versus tanks. Yorick has a 40% AoE slow, lasts 1.5 secs, and whenever his ghoul (40 + 35% AD dmg per hit) attacks, it also slows for 5 seconds. It also gives sight.

Yes Mundo is a better tank, that's what he does. But his damage is not scary. The only scary thing about Mundo is that if he lands a slow on you, you might be stuck fighting him. He has CC mitigation but no damage mitigation, so he still suffers horribly to ADC.

Yorick gets 20% damage reduction, technically has 4 damage abilities, and heals 40% of all damage his E ever does whether it be immediately or sustained. Yorick can fight an ADC with his burst (since honestly they will always win a long duration trade).

In 1 Second, spam blasting his ghouls. He can deal, after 1 autoattack:

121 (auto) + 121 + 150 (120% AD) + 200 (100% AP) + 175 (100% Bonus AD) = 767 + 145 = 912 + AP + Bonus AD 1 Attack from every ghoul = 180% AD + 40 = 258 ===> In 1 second, Yorick deals **1170 **base damage.

Mundo deals **689 **damage in 1 sec at 1% health. He does 59% as much damage, and his sustained damage is mainly his W with an AP scaling, while Yorick's is 105% Total AD + 40 per second. Yorick is very scary. Not to mention his itemization strongly benefits his damage and sustain while Mundo's itemization only really benefits his sustain.

BouncingPecs1 votes

Even with Sunfire, Mundo will only deal 135 dmg per second. The item costs 2600 gold. For that much, Yorick can buy a Muramana and a longsword, have +35 AD + AD (2% of max mana) and +3% of max mana in dmg. Mundo's biggest issue is that once he gets to the backline, he's not a huge threat. He just walks around throwing cleavers trying to whittle people down. It's very hard for him to actually kill someone during a teamfight unassisted. Also when you have a Yorick in lane, all of those champs you listed will be starved, minus maybe Irelia, so that he's always at an advantage anyway. He can 1v1 all of them (except mega gnar). He doesn't get outclassed at tanky harassment top by anyone, except by AP champions like Vlad.

Also Mundo can't build anything BUT tank items. If your team is lacking in damage, you can't do anything to help. He's very limited which is why he also isn't popular anymore. Neither of them are, but I think it's an Urgot thing where people just aren't doing it because they don't know how to play after a certain point.

ZileanUltJesusOP3 votes

again no. Yorick can get obliterated in lane by some champs. Renekton - this lane is a joke how hard he pounds yorick Chogath - thanks for the free health Trundle - thanks for the free health Nasus - Thanks for the stacks Riven - Obliterated every single time her cool downs are up as you have no escape at all and no mobility Darius - hits level 6 and dunks you into oblivion every time you walk into lane, pre 6 is tough but after 6 he destroys you Aatrox - Can't push him out of lane no matter how much you spam XinZhao - Will most likely burn your flash or kill you level 2, sustain too good, ghouls do nothing to him as he just sustains of them and does about 10 times as much damage as you, has a repeat gap closer with your 0 getaways. Most of these champs are highly played and that is why yorick is no longer played, he was made to be a lane bully, that was his job, he was the urgot of top lane, bully the hell out of the other laner so they dont get fed and can't scale because your scaling is garbage, but he just can't do that anymore with how strong popular top laners are right now. Back to the mundo argument, he has 50 percent tenacity with his w on, he will just stand on the adc and do tons of dot. If the adc tries to kite him, congrats mundo just did his job by forcing you out of the team fight and you can't kill him anyway. You ignore him. Congrats you just took 600 damage from aoe and sunfire and are eating autos and cleavers with his 100 ad steroid from his E. There is a reason mundo was played competitively for so long and yorick never has been

BouncingPecs2 votes

I actually don't think you've ever learned to play Yorick...well.

Renekton lmao, if you think Ren wins this lane after level 3 you have never played this match up in a ranked game above bronze. His sustain pushes waves, Yorick can keep this lane in front of his turret the entire game. It becomes a farm lane, and Yorick's Ultimate is FAR more useful late game.

Nasus Oh I didn't realize that he was going to Q the ghoul 1 second after it was cast on him while he was trying to Q an actual minion. Also, I didn't realize that he was going to Q a ghoul during a fight where Yorick is autoattacking him. This is what is telling me you have never played Yorick in this matchup. You obviously don't use a ghoul on him while he is prepping to use siphoning strike.......

Darius Needs flash to hit you. Lvl 6 doesn't give him the ability to flash twice. Also, Yorick's passive still affect true damage. It's one of the exceptions in the game.

Aatrox He has no wave clear if he's leveling up his sustain. Also he's pushing his wave very hard if he's trying to sustain. Yorick's ult alone makes more of an impact than his knockup late game. Also he's squishy. Late game yes he wins, but the first 9 levels he's in a farm lane.

Chogath can sustain off of you, but levels 1 -4 are ENTIRELY Yorick's. His damage output up until level 4 far exceeds Cho'Gaths. Again, he would need to clear entire waves to make up the damage. Kill him early, and he's never a lane threat again.

Trundle Heals off of maximum health. Do you know how much health a ghoul has?.....I'm glad the 35 damage they do to you early game per auto attack is made up by the 12 health you recover once.

Riven and Xin are good against him, but everyone has theirs counters. You've only played Yorick 19 times in 16 months and you always do the same build path, never adapating (except for a 5 damage item game...but why?...).

I had to stop taking you seriously when I saw that you lost a lane to a Top Karthus.........and then to Jax.............and then built ALL damage versus Nidalee and Akali. Nidalee carried that game.......wow.

ZileanUltJesusOP1 votes

ugh im gonna have to do this aren't I

Renekton- You have absolutely no where near the damage renekton has at any point in the game. If he lands one enhanced w on you you just lost the trade by about 3x the damage output seeing as renekton enhanced w does 200 damage at level 1. Q's every time you spam ghouls for free health and after he gets 3 points in q he insta kill your ghouls with one q and an ad item. Reneks ult is much much more useful in team fights. Ive done 1800 magic damage just by standing in a teamfight and it allows you to soak up damage for your team. yorick depending on how he uses it can be more useful but yorick doesnt have a 700 damage nuke stun on a 5.5 sec cooldown.

Nasus- I have never gotten more stacks as nasus then i have vs a yorick. I am a nasus main and i can tell you yorick stands 0 chance vs nasus after level 6. Nasus will rush frozen heart and his q will be on a 3 sec cooldown and your abilities will do nothing to him afterthat. He can q the minion you hit him with a ghoul and his cooldown is low enough that he can q the ghoul. i very rarely have over 400 stacks walking out of lane at 20 min but yorick is one of the few i can do it against. Also yorick is notorious for having a garbage late game, whereas nasus wil lbe one shotting your team as he laughs at you and your ghouls doing no damage to him.

Darius- This is the funniest one of all of the ones you posted. Yorick E range= 550 Darius e range=550 plus a little extra its well know that it is more like 600 as i have hit people well outside the range many times ( darius is my 2nd most played champion) so every single time you try to e him you are within pull range. With no escape.... against darius... lol your damage output is no where near darius's. Also if you have 4 ghouls out and he ults you with 5 stacks, with a tiamat it will do 647 true damage or in yoricks case 517 true damage. You are getting dunked regardless. Unless you plan on going ap yorick and only harrassing with your w, you lose as he will pull you every single time you try and harras with e and you have no escape.

Cho- Dont even try with this one, cho destroys yorick soundly. you are basically providing cho with free farm and stacks for his ult by using ghouls, you are better off using them to cs. Also, cho's team fight makes yorick look like a caster minion.

Trundle- 12 health per ghoul plus 18 health for every minion and 26 for cannon minions thats 170 per wave. You will go oom trying to push him out of lane. Especially when he backs for the first time and buys a vamp scepter.

Also, my yorick play has nothing to do with yorick in general. I dont take ranked very seriously. If you dont believe me look at all of my builds. mostly every game i play darius i go full ad no tank. Hell ive even gone full ad nasus a couple of times. i build glass cannon on everyone. I like normals much more than ranked. I do try to win but i don't take it extremely seriously.

You are arguing for a lost cause. There is a reason no one plays yorick and no one in lcs evre plays him. Hes just not good. He can't even fill his one identity well and thats a lane bully. The same thing happened to urgot. Lane bully identity got destroyed by tanky supports with tons of cc. Yorick in season 1 and 2 used to be able to destroy people top but now he just can't. There are way to many top laners that do his lane bully job much better and team fight better than him which is his biggest weakness. Top laners like irelia darius renekton nasus. When i play and when most people play they are more scared of getting darius or renekton than yorick. Darius in my opinion is the biggest lane bully for top. Period. Every time you go for cs you lose half your health bar. not to mention his level 6 powerspike is the highest in the game as he gets kill potential on anyone in the game. Yorick is fun to play but if im playing to win, im not picking him

SH Azykan1 votes

Unicorns of love played him in a Cassiopeia comp. Yorick put in a lot of work himself, and the ult giving Cassio 2 lives in team fights was ridiculous P:

He fits in with immobile hyper carries for teamfights when against a threat that easily can get onto them and blow them up. If running a Protect the kogmaw type comp I could see yorick being super useful (Damage threat, beefy, res the kog if an assassin manages to get to him).

ZileanUltJesusOP1 votes

he has 0 cc... all he could do to an assassin going after kog is watch... and then revive him for ten seconds?

SH Azykan2 votes

to be fair, if that assassin was LeBlanc (pre W nerf) Even a maokai would be watching. at least if yorick gets his ult onto kog as leblanc flies in kog can still output damage for those 10 seconds after.

Already pointed that out. Darius has an execute ult indicator, that pop up ONLY when the target has 5 stacks. It is kind of retarded to have and indicator that pops up only with 5 stack even if you could kill the enemy at 2 stacks....

Sire Hippington5 votes

you mix up things here, the indicator at 5 stacks simply indicates that u have 5 stacks and thus deal maximum damage with your ult, it doesn't give any information on wether or not it kills the target(and imo it doesn't need one)
