1v1 should *never* be one sided.

No matter what champion faces any other champion, there should always be the chance for either one to win. If that means the game meta should change, so be it. It is stupid that varus can stand off in aram and poke beyond what any other champion can hit stay behind a tank or two and never have to feel threatened. Any attack he levels ought to have its range no more than the longest attack of the enemy at which he aims. There should be NO unreturnable poke by one champion vs. any other. Don't tell me "well, it is all about team comp." No. It isn't. It is about a totally level playing field. Either that, or the CD on any long range poke needs to be the sum of all such long range pokes on the team so that heal rates would heal the champion poked by the time the spell is ready again. Stop making it burst abilities, poke abilities, or anything that is based on in the moment. Good games are ones in which neither team can tell who will win, and that all champions can kill any champion on the opposing team.

I should be able to 1v1 Vayne as Soraka 50% of the time. So unfair.

If only this was how it was but kits and ratios make so this wont happen most likely

It can be done. If I can think of it, surely Riot isn't so devoid of programming prowess that they can't implement it.

FyshinaTux1 votes

Wow... Have you ever programmed anything ever???

You're suggesting that they implement a constant variable setup that changes for EVERY CHAMPION, solely dependent on EVERY OTHER CHAMPION, in the game.

That makes my head hurt just THINKING about programming it. It would take FOREVER and THEN some to program that, never mind all the bugs that would be associated with it in the beginning.

If Riot STARTED coding this RIGHT NOW, it wouldn't hit live for another 5 years minimum, and it wouldn't be bug free for another 5 years after that... MINIMUM.

I'm seriously starting to think that you're some 8 year old kid somewhere that thinks everything is so easy (except, apparently, playing LoL, because you have such a hard time doing it, or so we're led to believe by your post.)

Plasma Servant1 votes

One more thing ... if anyone, playing any champion plays that champion well, they should be able to kill any other champion if the person playing that champion doesn't play that champion just as well. If that mean get rid of support roles, do it! If that means all champions have the same range and damage capabilities, do it! If that means that it is IMPOSSIBLE to have an assassin role, DO IT. Those things do not make the game fun except for juvenile minds that get thrills from beating up kids half their size. Don't pander to infantile minds.

You don't understand how the game works. It's a team game. People fill certain roles and work together to build a larger advantage than they would individually. If you want to learn how the game works, play ranked SR and get to higher Elo.

To see why champions can't be changed to be the way you're suggesting, watch this video.

upvoted just for the link to the most amazing video series ever!

Seriously, you have quite a few ARAM's in your recent games, and ONLY ONE OF THEM had an enemy Varus.

Aside from that you have a LOT of Teemo play in Bot games.

Either stick to bots, or get used to the differences (strength and weakness) of each champion.

It's as simple as that, if this game was EVERY CHAMPION being "Caitlyn", it would COMPLETELY lack excitement AND fun.

Strat1 votes

Sorry, but the game is balanced for team play. ARAMs are never going to be entirely fair because you can't counter pick particular champions or team compositions. It's something you simply have to understand when you queue up for an ARAM - that the team composition (dis)advantage is going to be random!

What you're suggesting basically equates to making every champion have a very similar set of skills. This is boring.

ARAM will always be second priority to summoner's rift. If you want a fair battlefield, play SR.

Plasma Servant1 votes

So change it. That is my point. It shouldn't be about getting a slight edge and then "we win!" That just isn't fun.

Strat1 votes

But that's not how it works in Summoner's Rift (i.e. the real game, not ARAM). There are plenty of ways you can use champion mechanics to turn games that were going one way or the other.

Look, I'm going to make a suggestion, don't take it as an insult, I'm 100% serious with this. Have you considered trying Heroes of the Storm? HotS actually fulfills a lot of the things you've asked for here. You might actually find it more fun. Like different people find different things fun, maybe LoL is the wrong game for you and HotS is the right one?

Plasma Servant1 votes

So change it. That is my point. It shouldn't be about getting a slight edge and then "we win!" That just isn't fun. And why, should it all be about SR? It should not. They introduce items particular to different maps, balance can be enforced on a per map basis as well. I'd rather see it balanced for ARAM and let SR play second fiddle in any case, the rift is boring in spades, or totally toxic. ARAM is the only place were non-toxic play happens more often than not.

Because, you know, the vast, vast, vast majority of players play SR and not ARAM? ARAM players are a minority. Bigger than twisted treeline or dominion, sure, but a minority nonetheless.

takes out skill, takes out higher skill levels, no champion makes it so you cant do anything its all decision making.

Plasma Servant1 votes

just the opposite I would say. having total balance would be all about skill level. It would never be about a bad team comp. It would never be about the pre-game, it would always be about skill in game (where the fun really happens).

Strat2 votes

But that's the thing. If you watch that video I linked you earlier, it explains why a perfectly balanced game is BORING and NOT fun.

Look at SC1 for instance. It's so well balanced that the game quickly became a simple calculation on who could do more APM (and hence build up their base faster). As such, the pro scene became stagnant and boring, as did the public ladder for anyone who reached a certain skill level.

This is precisely what will happen to a MOBA like LoL if you balance it in such a way. It'll become all about who has faster reactions, and that's it. No creative builds, no creative use of mechanics, no interesting team work.

(where the fun really happens)

Holy shit, just shut your mouth already. Seriously, don't tell us how to have fun in a game when you play the braindead modes of the game, when all you do is play vs bots and ARAM (i.e. roll of the dice to win mode). You can't blame the game for being unbalanced when you play these modes. The only way to balance a game with random champions is by making all champions 100% identical. If you want that, play an FPS or something.

FyshinaTux1 votes

Simply put, Melee Vs. Ranged. The scenario you're looking for will NEVER happen, because of melee vs. ranged.

That being said, you're talking about 1v1, then talk about ARAM... which is... 5v5...

I do, however, take issue with the "randomness" that is ARAM. Considering most games I play on ARAM consist of one team or the other playing "Bullet Hell" styled gameplay, I don't believe that ARAM is that "random" at all. And Bullet Hell isn't a playstyle I like to be on EITHER side of in ARAM.

That being said... just... no. I can't FailFish hard enough at your post. FailFish

So you're saying Bard should have a dunk ult when fighting against a Tryndamere ?

Stars Shaper1 votes

That would be right when a team isn't involved in fgihts.

But since this is a team game there are champions which excell in solo and others who excell in team. Live with it, it's balanced.

If Varus is standing behind a tank, he isn't fighting you 1v1 is he?

Have you noticed? Champions that are better in 1x1, usually do worse in 5x5. That's just the way it works. You have to compensate with something. That's why champions like Kalista and Vayne are unbalanced. They do well both.

Mecha MaIphite1 votes

1v1s do not determine the game. Nor does poke.

If we went with what you said, we might as well delete every champion except one so everything is 'even'.
