Can anyone recall a time where he was bad?

And so a champion needs to be trash tier at some point to be acceptable? Let's do that with velkoz then, there shouldn't be a reason with him being so balanced!

As a support main, heres what I can add to this (My opinion):

  1. Thresh is the Alpha Male by default because he is one of the only **true **supports
  2. He only has one draw back, Sustain
  3. If you were to remove ALL damage from his kit, he would still be a good pick, that is a key trait in any support. I know that there are more aggressive supports like Zyra AnnieVelkoz Sona Brand but the fact is, any primary role support (which means their first role is support) should be able to peel for their carries with more than half of their kit. For example, **Janna **has a shield that provides AD, that is not peel. That's protection, but all the rest of her abilities are oriented around peeling. Another example is Nami. All of her spells help allies escape. When you look at Sona Soraka Zilean Taric there isn't much peel. Instead they offer something special in their kits. Soraka has insane sustaining abilities. Zilean can revive anyone. Taric can augment ally armor. Sona has a versatile passive allowing her to pick what she wants in different situations. These characters have one, maybe two, peeling spells. It doesn't mean they're bad champions but I don't think they really qualify to fit in the same role as Janna Nami Thresh Bard Braum
  4. Which brings me to my final point; a new role. One for champions that can thrive in the bot lane with ally but focus on a different job other than peeling. Some have created a new name, Enchanters. Now a new role, a new name, isnt gonna fix anything. I suggest to Riot, reworking and creating champions to fit this role. Champions who are "Supports" but have lost their identity (Cough Sona Cough) or who aren't really mages but arent really supports (Cough Zilean Cough)

Or maybe Im just a fool XD <-------------Prob truth.

He's never been bad because of how much utility his kit is. As long as his kit remains how it is, he'll always be at the top of the support tier.

I'm pretty sure you could remove all scalings/damage from his abilities and he would still be a beast.
