Make Sightstone's Give Bonus Experience

Jungler's get bonus experience from their jungle items to prevent them from being under leveled, so supports should get bonus experience from sightstone to stop them from being under leveled.

This would work because support is the only position other than jungle that has an item specific to the role, so other positions can't abuse it.

Here's how I imagine it working. item 2049 Unique Passive - Being near a minion's death without dealing the killing blow grants 5-10 Bonus Experience. item 2303 Would require something a little different because it lets you kill minions, but the idea's still the same.

It would grant more experience the farther behind in levels they are, and grant more experience as the game goes on, because the amount of experience required to level up increases with each level.

That's 30-60 bonus experience per minion wave. Junglers get 15 bonus experience per large monster killed with tier 1 jungle items item 1041 item 1039 and 30 bonus experience with tier 2 item 3706 item 3715 item 3711. Most junglers can clear 2 or 3 camps per minion wave in lane, so it should be about the same.

This is a good idea for a few reasons

  1. Prevents supports from being under leveled, obviously. Right now supports are usually 2 levels behind everyone else by 20 minutes in, and it only gets worse the longer the game goes on.
  2. Since sightstone would give experience only when you have it, it would encourage supports to rush it just like how junglers rush their tier 2 jungle item. Some supports put off buying sightstone in favor of getting other items like FQC, Boots, Catalyst, etc, but if rushing sightstone meant leveling faster and getting the increased base stats and damage or utility in their kits that comes with levels, then that's a huge incentive to rush it as their first item.

Anyone can pick up a sightstone... try again.

It would only give xp while being near minions you didn't kill meaning you only get the xp if you don't farm, and getting sightstone just for xp woud mean giving up the raw stats that other items give, which would make you weaker even if you got the bonus xp.

Junglers get extra experience from their items because they lowered the experience given by mobs to stop laners from hitting level 2 with them.

Jungle items have given xp since season 4, the xp that the jg give was lowered just recently, they did increase the amount of xp jg items give, but they still gave xp before that.

Yeah non-supports can buy sightstone, plus some junglers already do (yes they have item 3711 but some would rather a different one for the smite perk and get a sightstone), and then those junglers would end up somewhat ahead of the curve.

Besides that, supports champs are frequently support champs because they can be useful despite being underleveled and without a great need for keeping pace levelwise. If they maintained their current usefulness at a given level but could level faster, then the support champs themselves might need to be nerfed somewhat to avoid power creep, and then all that would be accomplished is a net nerf to late-game when the supports have caught up and everyone is 18.

You over thought this way too much, and with bad logic no less, also I can tell from your reasoning that you only read the title and not the post.

A jungler could buy sightstone but they would sacrifice the stats that other items give, which would make them weaker even if they got bonus xp. No some junglers don't already buy sightstone, the only jungler who's ever done that is Lee Sin and even he doesn't do it anymore. I stated in my post that the xp on sightstone would work by

Unique Passive - Being near a minion's death without dealing the killing blow grants 5-10 Bonus Experience.

this makes it blatantly clear that you did not read the post at all and are complaining based off the title alone.

Currently supports being behind and not feeling useful because of it is one of the reasons support is avoided like the plague. The reason support players are complaining about being behind is because they aren't as useful as they should be because they're underleveled.

Next time try reading a post before making a comment complaining about the idea.

Well, maybe sightstones on jungler is only a pro player thing, but it's definitely a thing. Lee sin is the main one that comes to mind yes, and it's less common due to the machete option, but like I said sometimes they'll take a different machete choice and build sightstone directly. I doubled checked probuilds to make sure this hasn't changed lately, and sure enough theres still some sightstones being built.

A bunch of other junglers build the warding machete option too, and with bonus xp on a sightstone, they might be more tempted to build a sightstone and get better stats from the machete slot.

You seem to be suggesting that junglers are never around minions that they don't deliver the killing blow to. This might be relevant on non-ganking junglers, but the vast majority of junglers gank (which involves visiting a lane where minions are dieing, and they're unlikely to be delivering the killing blow directly since they're supposed to be ganking the enemy champ). Additionally, mid-late game (pre-18) theres plenty of seige type scenarios where multiple champs are in the same lane and it's the adc/mid who do the bulk of the wave clear, so being able to get extra xp there is valuable.

A lot of people don't play support because they don't feel useful, but that doesn't mean they aren't actually useful. I main support, and that's why I'm always wary about non-support mains suggesting changes to the support role. Random buffs to supports are welcome sure, but I don't think riot is inclined to buff things without a compensating nerf to keep the power budget in line, and it's those things I'm wary of. Supports as they are currently are quite effective at influencing games if the player knows what they're doing, and buffing them so that those who don't know what they're doing are effective as well means that in the hands of those who do, they'll get rather dominant, and it's the upper tiers of play that riot often balances around.

That's not how it should work

Sightstone should give bonus 10-40(depending on level) exp every second near a champion a higher level than you. And increase warding/trinket ranges by 15%.

Just flat bonus per minion death isn't good because supports aren't suppose to be shackled to lane and be allowed to roam. Your idea would enforce bad support playstyle.

I wouldn't know because at my elo (silver) a lot of ADC's constantly complain if you're anywhere that's not right next to them :( or they think that if I leave lane to go warding it's the perfect time to all in the enemy adc and supp D: What you say make's sense and seems like a good idea to me though. As long as something is done about supports being under leveled I'll be happy.

in low elo, adcs only want a babysitter.

It's when you get higher up that they want a true support that babysits and roams

I think Ruby Sightstone should give XP
