iOS League of Legends

I think it is about time to implement League of Legends to iOS devices. Before, that was not possible due to the limitations of the devices and complex nature of the game set up. However, after viewing the geek-bench scores of the new iPad Pro, I am certain that League of Legends could run very smoothly on the iPad without a single problem. The device can handle stuff heavier than league, so why not take this chance to expand the availability of league to different devices? The revenue margins could increase exponentially. Runescape just released their own version into mobile devices and it is phenomenal, their numbers have been rising ever since and the increase in daily players has flooded Jagex with profits, I think Riot could easily capitalize on that. There definitely will be challenges to compatibility and device differences, like the lack of pointing device and whatnot, but here is the thing, I have been personally playing League on a touchscreen laptop (Lenovo flex 3) and I have found it to be much more comfortable to use the touch screen for skillshots and pointers compared to mouse clicks, that could potentially solve the lack of pointing device problem with the iPad, along with adaptation. Alternatively, the Apple Pencil could be used as a pointer, and let me tell you it as much more accurate than any mouse you have ever used. The iPad could also be equipped with an attachable keyboard, so the spell casts and summoner spells could easily be used without any problem, alternatively they could just be tapped from the screen, though I doubt a lot of summoners would opt in for that option. I understand that it is not the easiest thing in the world to adapt a PC based game that has been like that for 8 years into an iOS device, but my point is, there is much more to win here compared to the cost of effort and investment. Adapting the game into iOS will in no way affect the classic way other players choose to play, and even though my solutions for the potential problems may have some flaws, I have no doubt that Riot is more than capable of innovating new ideas and solutions to make the adaptation as smooth as possible. I really would like to see this happen, especially with a lot of people like myself considering of switching completely to an iOS device but at the same time do not want to sacrifice playing their favourite game of all time. I hope we can have a healthy discussion here about this, what potential problems have I failed to address, what ideas do you think could be implemented to make this potential transition better, and what would you like to see in such a large scale change? Thank you for reading, I hope this reaches Riot! [sg-kiko]

I didn't read this whole thing so I'm sorry if you addressed this, but the reason this would not work is because of the amount of room the HUD takes up. Even if they took out the useless stuff like your champ icon, they still have to fit

  • Minimap
  • Chat
  • Health/Mana bars
  • Ability/Summoner spell icons
  • Teams score and stat stuff
  • Way to access tab menu, escape button, etc.

You would have very little room to actually play the game. The only way I could see it working is maybe on an iPad, but that's still iffy.

Considering what's happening with Diablo Immortal rn, i think it might be best to leave it alone

The problem hasn't been the graphical capabilities for a several years now. The problem is controls.

You need to fit a minimum of 4 abilities + 2 Summoner Spells + 6 item slots + 1 trinket slot, all available on a moment's notice with high accuracy, in order to be on even footing in a team fight. That's not counting things like Attack Move, Stop, Normal Move, or Selecting something to see info on it. That's not accounting for minimap viewing.

Frankly, there's a reason the Real Time Strategy genre hasn't taken off on mobile. League shares that control scheme. It's the same reason League isn't on console

No all is ok,you will literally just need to play with a mouse and keyboard. You can get both for iPad and such and will work fine. Riot can make it happen that way very easily 👍👌
