Some of those lines are pure gold.

Other than those, not a fan of the new Demon Viktor skin.

Nobody knows. People just see action and they shriek "anime" for some reason.

You mean style? Like in the matrix? Like in almost EVERY SINGLE MARVEL MOVIE EVER? Nope. It's just stylish action. That's all.

marvel movies are literally based on cartoons / comics which are the equivalent of anime in western world lmao

matrix? eh it was nowhere near this level of a meme.

I think its that, and the fact a talking comedic villain demon that wants to destroy the world with like half of his voice lines being "I'll defeat you! once I learn how..." which is practically "You haven't stopped me yet protagonist!" "I'll be back!" etc.

Overdramatic or hyper stylized are not an anime only thing. There ARE things that can be very anime like certain clothing style or things like sweat drops or the like but what Aatrox is doing here has nothing to do with being anime.

ok, name an example of western animation that uses such over the top battle styles

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

Some live action examples are The Matrix or the Star Wars prequels. There's also Samurai Jack and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Most of the examples from the West involve guns and are from live action movies though.

Really? Hmmm let me think... Matrix had alot of wallrunning an long jumps, but as far as I remember the fights were either pew pew pistol fights or fistfights and both really straight forward without many useless movements.

Same for Star Wars, they had a useless spin or flip in there once or twice, but most time it was standard sword fighting, not nearly as over the top with useless movements, that would make battle way harder for you, like the new Aatrox has.

Avatar had very little movements that were not neccessary for the figh, especially because all 4 bending styles were based on real world martial arts. They had alot of movement, yes, but every move was essential to the attack.

That leaves Samurai Jack, which I didnt watch, so I dont know, but looking at the style of the show, I am pretty sure they were going for an Anime like show...

EDIT: Forget what I said about the matrix, I totaly forgot that they made 2 sucking sequels after the first one^^

The over dramatization of his attacks. Most league of legends champions have that though. If this fictional character were a real being, it could attack more efficiently rather than the dramatic wind ups. just ignore me... lol

Nothing. It's just that mentioning anime is a sure way to pique the interest of most users of internet forums and a great way to farm updoots.

If it was anime, Aatrox and his enemy would dash at eachother, and in a split second end up ten meters apart with their backs turned to eachother. Then the both of them stand still for several intense seconds with their backs still facing eachother. Aatrox would say something cool like "The wind blows no longer, Yasuosuke", and finally the cuts from his blade register and his opponent falls to the ground. Afterwards it starts raining so you can't tell if Aatrox is crying or not as he just stands there, and que the end credits.

Honestly, I only know these over the top fighting style from Anime. Even western comic Book Heroes dont overdo it like this.

This whole spinning in the air., throwing your sword around to catch it for a hit again... I know of no western source that uses these kind of fighting styles. Yet I know alot of Animes that use it...
