As dubious as I am of this new soloq

The people getting paid to figure out whether it's a good idea have obviously spent weeks or months exploring this, and we've known about it for a day. Not saying that settles anything, but I think we should see how this goes before saying the sky is falling.

I also saw a good point: 4 idiots could ruin a game, but 1/2 are more than capable of that and it'd be hard to sell 4 people on wasting 25 mins to mess with one random. Basically yeah the potential for abuse is there, but it's so impractical that the dumb stuff we have now is still gonna be more of a problem.

The people on the balancing team also gets paid for what they do, that doesn't make their decisions any less terrible.

But you're also talking about a community who would cry over anything that can 1v1 them and not have a cigar, which they have to deal with.

The boards will cry about anything, main reason I even read them. But since im not so committed to thinking every patch is "the worst time for balance ever" ill go on record saying i can usually agree with what the balance team tries to do. I can only think of a couple changes I had huge problems with

Happens all the time in norms.

You don't have LP to lose in normals though.

Beat me to it. Even more complexity penalty when its "4 people who dont care about lp or have smurfs"

I disagree. LP doesn't matter in 90% of the season. You try-hard the first 3 weeks to get the rank you had last season, and you try-hard the last 3 weeks to get your goal rank. You'll mostly be climbing in between then, but when you're not at risk of being demoted and it's the middle of the season, who cares about 20 LP?

Your personal rank will mean very little when the system encourages grouping over solo play. The new ranked system will become about who you know and how many you know not how you perform individually.

Ive casually played some ranked 5s and id say that at least in plat/diam where people are usually on the same page with team movement, communication between people who don't play together all the time isn't going to skew a game on its own.

Bronze/silver yeah itll be a big deal, but in a way this also pushes players to understand rotations etc.

Personal skill will still be huge. Teamwork is a power modifier; if there's no power to begin with because someone is missing two thirds of their last-hits and taking free harass while they do it they're still gonna have a hard time winning. Sure 4 people could put in hours and hours to carry xDonaldTrump69x through some divisions, but who would even want to?

Yeah man, we can't possibly understand

High elo, which already has a low population, now begins forming a large number of premades. These premades will not be matched with solo players as often. To keep queue times down, Riot has stated low Elo's MMR will be inflated.

Do you understand what that means?

As a Master tier player (rank 430 on the ladder, there aren't a lot of people up here), half of the people in my games from now on will be ~Diamond 3, severely outmatched and getting crushed every game, because Riot is trying to avoid queuing solo players like me with premades, but also don't want to make me wait

On what plane of reality could you possibly see this working? I don't care how many morons are getting paid to think about it, last time I trusted that Mordekaiser got reworked to automatically win games by virtue of laning normally

Spacesuit Spiff1 votes

Well i could see that happening and then after a while they give up on decent queue times for premades that high up. A sort of subtle "solo or fuck you" situation whenever there arent enough people to support premades.

And? I'm pretty sure people got paid to design and rework certain champions like GP, Morde, Fiora and Darius... and it took months aswel + public feedback, YET THEY STILL FAILED and released them in a completely broken state which drew permabans even in the competitive scene and Worlds.

As long as RITO makes & implements these stupid things before consulting pro players and competitive scene FIRST, you simply can't trust RITOs judgement on these things.
