I spend 450g and can only make 400g before needing to sell the item, for whatever amount...
What is the benefit of starting this item - what is the advantage it's stats have over other starting items?
ATM, I don't see why (with 500 starting gold) I shouldn't buy long sword and pot up.

You get weaker stats, but you get your money back by farming up. Dorans currently is cost efficient, but doesn't build into anything. You can't build cull into anything, but getting all of your money back when you don't need it can really help rushing that midgame item you need!
Jacknife1 votesI think the idea is giving it to laners who need to survive the laning phase and need super big items in order to scale. The passive is in the right direction (say what you want, but 400g more than your opponent is worth in my book) but the stats are lacking a bit.
