** General tips:**

-Never try to force engages when you think you can't win a sustained fight afterwards. Pyke has no DPS, it's mainly just a combination of burst and CC, so if your ADC can't get the damage going then don't put yourself in a bad position.

(IMO, Pyke goes well with: Ashe DravenCaitlyn and can struggle against Janna AlistarPoppy)

-Charging up and holding a hook is a great way to zone the enemy out of some CS. If you're under tower and won't get punished for it, try to push forward with your hook charged up to make them back off.

-When you/your adc is fed, don't be afraid to roam and get some easy kills with your ult to snowball the rest of your team.

-Damage, of course, is important on Pyke. But remember, building HP can give you some pretty solid AD in return. My usual build in almost every game is:

Start: item 3301 item 2003 item 2003 item 3340 First Back: item 3117 first, then item 3096. (mobility boots help so much with roaming and engaging, it's usually best to rush those.) Essential Items: item 3069 item 3147 item 3142

Building a item 3193 when your game has a lot of teamfights can be a HUGE benefit. It's great because of the bonus Armor/MR, but the real benefit comes from the active. When you activate stoneplate and get the bonus HP, it's all converted into AD. Late game, using a stoneplate in the middle of a teamfight can give anywhere from 140-200+ AD (depends on level.)

item 3140 is also a great option if the enemy has some pretty scary CC.

Specific Matchup Tips:

-For champions with escapes and high mobility, don't be afraid to try and predict their movement with a Q. If you see a Tristana Vayne Xayah jumping out of the way, holding on to your Q and being patient can net you some easy kills.

-When fighting Blitzcrank Alistar Nautilus Poppy (or pretty much anyone with good engage) don't let your ADC take all of the CC. If you body block an ability (such as a hook) you can quickly escape with an E before they can follow up. Pyke's E is an AMAZING movement option so don't be scared to use it in that way. **(It can also go over almost any wall in the game!) **

-When fighting a Draven, use your Q to deny him axes and shut him down early.

-Yasuo's windwall WILL block your Q and E entirely.

-If Thresh engages on you with a hook, you can pull him back into tower range/minion wave by using your E. Not only will it be a nearly guaranteed stun, it can put him out of his comfort zone and get a quick summoner 4 or net you an easy kill.

You are a horrible source of advice.

item 3193 Cancels itself out on Pyke. You gain AD from the doubled HP, **but then Stoneplate halves it. **

item 3117 are not the best boots on Pyke. item 3111 are by far.

item 3142 item 3147 is asking to die. Support main Pykes actually spam item 3065 item 3110 item 3026 , because they generally help him run the game until item 3031 enters the equation. item 3147 is something you buy when you are out of your normal elo and can fit it into your build without dying (also counters your no damage argument)

No, I'm really not.

Mobility boots are definitely the best boots for roaming, which is what Pyke is supposed to do. Merc treads may be a close second, but mobis take priority almost every game when ahead.

Edit: here's a link to some pro-players and other high elo players building mobis, in case you still think I'm a 'horrible source of advice.'

Stoneplate works on Pyke. Yes, the damage reduction hurts his Q+E+AAs, but gives him a massive increase to his ultimate threshold, which is a bonus, especially in a teamfight.

(evidence for stoneplate:) https://twitter.com/lufty/status/1003056067260157955?lang=en https://www.reddit.com/r/pykemains/comments/8tf3ng/gargoyles_stoneplate_on_pyke/

Youmuu's and Duskblade, are, again, great when ahead. OP is unranked, so no, it really wouldn't be that bad. The point of the build example was to show that your support item takes priority. It isn't an instant "build this every game" win condition.

Check yourself before you comment something stupid. Thanks.

  1. Mobi Pyke players die far more, and offer no escape mobility. They are primarily pre fight. The reason "pros" generally get Mobis is because they use Unflinching for Tenacity. Mobis actually have the second lowest win rate on Pyke:

  1. The crap you posted about Stoneplate doesn't invalidate anything I said. It's a stock image of someone saying it gives AD not AP. It DOES reduce his R threshold too. No Pros even use it.

I have a 73% win rate in Diamond IV as Pyke. What do I know? Oh. I also jungle him.

P.S. I even double checked Stoneplate + R in a practice game. Damage to 50% reduction with it active was a whopping 211. Damage to 0 Armor minions = 345. Damage to Champs at threshold did 211 damage and did not execute.

Contrary to wiki walks, Pyke's ult is NOT ignoring Stoneplate. And about your "Malph" video..... your "Malph" had a whopping 125 HP when you ulted him. Lmfao.

1.) Doesn't change the fact that mobis are more popular, and generally received as better than item 3111.** If your scenario was the case, don't you think pro players would be building merc treads? **Especially in elos where EVERY mistake can be capitalized on?

2.) Hi. Here's a video of you being wrong about the R threshold. I pop Stoneplate, damage increases, ult range increases, dead. It doesn't matter what gets reduced because there is nothing to be reduced.

https://streamable.com/nfh6t

(Malphite is below ult range, rises back up, I pop Stoneplate, Malphite goes back into ult range.)

The way execute ults work is: Ult is detected, if the trigger (being below a certain threshold of HP) goes off, the true damage occurs. Because it's true damage and because true damage can't be reduced like physical damage can, Pyke benefits from item 3193. Thanks for playing.

Even with video evidence, you can't accept the fact that you're wrong. It's pretty sad. Thanks for the conversation.

Yours is the only good reply so far, so kudos.

Although I would add something.

Yes. Pyke doesn't have damage.

BUT..... he can if played right. I take Phase Rush/Sorcery/Inspiration, because of the mobility and the Transcendence Rune. I can get to about 313 Armor 112 Mag resist while also having some 439 AD on these runes. Very satisfying at shredding adcs or playing chicken with a fed Garen.

In teamfights try to avoid engaging. All you have to do is sit back until an enemy is in execute range and then go snatch that kill. (NOTE: STAY IN THE BACK DONT USE YOUR E TO GO FOR THE EXECUTE OTHERWISE YOU WILL DIE A PATHETIC DEATH IN THE MIDDLE OF THEIR TEAM :)) While in lane hook someone really close to you to fling them like a Singed E and E backwards to gurantee a stun. After that I usually run away. It gurantees my adc some poke hits aswell. I prefer to play pyke like a support but I build lethality items and rush aggressive rune pages.

In the botlane you will struggle against Alistar Leona Blitzcrank Draven (The combo I noted earlier should be a good solution) Adcs that pair well with you are usually Caitlyn Tristana (they are both really good at getting some damage in and running away using the combo above)

After his adjustment to lethality I rush item 3308 to item 3147 item 3142 item 3814 (and boots depending on the game ofc) and then item 3026. A lot of people find that really bad and prefer to go tanky items but I use those mostly because I have fun with executing above 40% hp, have a long stun duration, and have used them since his initial release. As for the runepage I go Electrocute Sudden Impact Eyeball Collection Ultimate Hunter Pressence Of Mind (or my favourite: Nimbus Cloak) Coup De Grace ( and Transcendance) After that get the CDR thingy at the bottom if you picked precision secondary or the adaptive force if you got sorcery. Then head for adaptive force again and finish off with some extra HP.

This pathing is completely underused but I find it surprisingly OP if you are used to using combos and hitting your R properly. Other opinions are welcome but there is no need to hate on someone else's Builds Etc.

I hope I helped and Good Luck in your journey!
